I feel you and if he wanted to come to STL DA would be an idiot not to entertain the idea. Me Personally want nothing to do with guys that walk out on their teams/

when did he walk out on his team? the devils were only too happy to get rid of that insane contract. i do not know what is happening in russia. one can never be sure. he might not have been paid or other crap.

has the rule changed though if you sign a free agent from over seas doesn't he have to first clear waivers?

I don't know how the NHL gets around this "retirement" issue with him coming back to the NHL. It would seem to me that there would have to be some punishment for the Devils for circumventing the CBA...

I suspect and from the little I have seen, I expect he could go back to NJ to fulfill the contract that he voluntarily retired from. Of course, he could then be traded.

I don't believe he could come back as a free agent. I think.

So would you trade for Ilya K and what would you give up? Would seem to be a super rental, no?

I can't see us ever trading for him.

I don't think there is any chance the league agrees to let him come back and sign a deal with anyone for a playoff run, maybe after the season ends.

Basically his only chance to come back this year is to resume his contract with the Devils isn't it? No way we trade for that albatross.

If for some magical reason he was allowed to freely sign a new contract I would be happy to sign Ilya for the remainder of the year.
