What do we do with Moulson? Leave him on the 4th line and play him 12min per game for $5m per year? Buy him out and be done with it. He is literally the slowest player in the NHL - lulags
I agree he's not good and incredibly slow. I don't think he's bought out unless we have a cap need. The money doesn't make great sense. Might be better off sending him to the AHL and saving 1-1.5M on the contract than buying him out and saving 2-3 but having to pay him longer. I'm betting you see him on this team come October |

Franson is awful in terms of foot speed. I'm about 99% certain John Scott is faster than him.
Actually, I think Lehner could probably skate faster than Franson, with ALL his goaltender equipment still on. |

That's all the cap relief you get when you send a guy to the AHL now. |

Touche.
Man, when that guy pinches up high in the play and the puck gets past him, it's a guaranteed 2-1. Because his partner knows how slow he is. |

so the fact we sucked on the pp with the drop pass to myers had no effect on why we lost that series to the flyers when we went 0-19 on the pp and allowed the flyers to get 6 pp goals
I got it, special teams means nothing - homiedclown
Did I say they mean nothing? I said they aren't that important. And you just listed a small sample size. Anything can become important the smaller of an example you use.
They matter. They just don't matter that much in today's NHL.

Hard to tell when i have never seen Franson give more than 50% on a shift with this team. He is here for a paycheck and a paycheck only. And it shows. |

agree to disagree
no way that flyer team makes it to the finals if they don't score 23 pp goals in the 23 games they play
the average nhl game is 0-2 goal differential after 60 minutes
what you do on special teams plays a big part in the final score |

Special teams are the cheese and mayo in a good sandwich.
5v5 is the meat and bread.
When teams are closely matched 5v5 (as they generally are by the time you get tot he playoffs and weed out the bottom feeders, its special teams and goaltending that makes the difference. But neither special teams or goaltending will get you there without the 5v5 to begin with. |

Goes up as the league minimum goes up. If it goes to 625k the savings will be 1M. Point is still the same. Would you rather save less now or save more now but have him on the books when we need to pay Jack and Sam? |

so if you go 0-4 on the pp, the other team goes 1 for 3 and you lose the game 3-2 you get a moral victory because you played even strength ok

Of course. If he comes and says hey sign me now and we need to cut Moulson to get under the cap it's done in an instant. But that's the only cap situation at this moment I can see us buying him out for. I don't need that 2M(?) on the books when Jack needs a contract |

A BO of Moulson this summer would result as a $1,445,166.97 cap hit for the next 6 years. Add on Cody's BO and you're over 2 million of wasted cap space. |
