Now, Eric Staal is the only option. Better get ready, Matt.

If it happens, I swear I'm going to flip the (frank) out for a couple days. Or go on a bender.

If the rental price is the rental price of a 31 year old 40-50 point a player, I could be o.k. with it. If the rental price is the younger version of Eric Staal, than no.

We shall see I guess. According to AV, Gorton is in New York working away, so it's going to be fun to see what he has in the hopper.

Absolutely not. What a terrible decision by me last year.

What do you think the chances are 1 of the rfa's is traded? I wonder if thats going to be factored into any potential trades, that they might not be able to sign all 3.

I would say a very low chance on Hayes and Miller. Slightly higher chance on Kreider, but still pretty low. Honestly, I have no idea what is going to happen at this deadline. It could be such a wide range of things -- the aging franchise player rental, the young disappointing top 5 pick, loose part rentals, etc. Who knows?

I am fine with acquiring Eric Staal if it doesn't include a #1 pick, Brady Skeji or Buchnevich or Gropp. I don't believe they would trade Kreider or Hayes for a rental in any case.

I am ok with multiple 2nd round picks, any other Hartford prospects, any other junior prospects we may have to get it done.

I agree totally.

I wonder whether the whole fanbase would root against him the minute he put on the jersey.

I might. Honestly. Because he's done. Like Dan Boyle. Eric Staal is totally spent. He's on the wing to help get back into a scoring role and that can't even help him. His brother being bought by the Canes etc. Eric Staal is finished.

Why would you root against a player that the Rangers acquire?

That makes no sense. You have no control whether they bring him on. If they do, you can say I don't like the trade, but why would you root against him?

Only way I trade Kreider is if its for a package with another player coming back with some years on a contract. Or another young player that has potential and not playing all that well.

I agree. Kreider only gets traded, IMO, if they want to go the younger player route. Not for a rental or older vet.

I guess root against him was the wrong term to use. Would I'd be very critical. Yes I would.

I never root against a Ranger, but I will be seething inside, especially if it doesn't work.

I would hope he succeeds though, even if I hate a trade.

I think in every trade, people that don't like it are going to come down with a case of a Itoldyousoitis if it doesn't work out. It's just a matter of degree, IMO.

Dan Boyle and Hugh Jessiman for Staal... that's my final offer

Yeah. I try to stay away from that. Nothing would make me feel better though if that trade happened, and people could say, "Matt you were a dumbass about the Staal trade."

I think he'd be revitalized by coming to the Rangers, I do believe that.

the Rangers don't need him to be the answer, but he can did a bit of everything up front. He hits, he takes faceoffs, he's always a factor, gets shots

I am more than happy to have him for a cup run for the right cost

That hockeystatmminor guy on twitter is bringing up and interesting point.

Even if the Rangers wanted to roll the dice by putting Nash on LTIR to use the cap space.. what the hell are they doing with around 7 million in cap space by Monday? think of all the picks and prospects they would be dealing to need that much space/use it

If by some crazy chance they end up dealing Buchnevich and a 1st...you will have to feel my laughter-wrath forever.
