Piece of poop? Dude left to be close to his family and whatever other reasons. He left millions on the table to make millions in Russia. Was it sudden? Yes. But that doesnt make him a POS. This guy has been crucified at a young age for NOTHING other than him being Russian. Same thing that is happening to Yakupov. Kovy was such a team player, especially when he matured and was in Jersey, the dude was dropping the gloves and sticking up for the guys.
So please, swallow your poop comments and grow up. |

Ek isn't a complete idiot. Gotta throw TOR in the title or else he will only generate a fraction of the ad revenue. He doesn't care that half the people are only showing up to call him an idiot, because they keep coming back. We are all enablers of this farce. |

Ek heard to many rumors to do the show |

Has anybody mentioned that in order for Kovalchuk to return to NHL this season the GMs of all 30 teams must vote "yes" to allow it? Which makes his return unlikely. Also, according to Russian media, Detroit has interest in him. |

This is a rumor we have to deal with every year until it actually happens (it will). The Devils hold his rights until he's 35. Once he's 35 he can come in without approval from anyone as a UFA. If he comes back before then which would require him to sit out an entire year of professional hockey or the approval of all 30 teams, he is then Devils property. He would then have to renegotiate a contract with NJ. Of course NJ could always just trade his rights which I think is the most likely scenario. But hey, what do I know? |

Please keep in mind that that per the CBA, and due to Kovalchuk’s retirement, he basically has three options for an NHL return.
1. Kovalchuk would need approval from all 30 NHL teams, due to his voluntary retirement, to return to the NHL right this second.
[ b]2. If Kovalchuk were to sit out of hockey for a calendar year, he would only need the New Jersey Devils’ consent to return to the NHL, as he’s on the voluntary retired list and last played for that club. Which means he could sign with the Devils. Or, most likely, they'd trade his rights away.
3. Kovalchuk plays internationally until he turns 35 (April 15, 2018), and then is dropped from the voluntary retired list and becomes an unrestricted free agent. |

I don't understand why everyone is doubting EK . Does everybody forget the time he predicted Buff was going to Philadelphia. ....never mind |

Thanks, I did not mention the clause of him sitting out the entire season because the conversation was about him returning this season. He'll need the approval of all 30 GMs which is unlikely to happen. I'm surprised Mr. Eklund didn't mention this. Kovalchuk is not coming back this year, stop with this nonsense. |
