I we trade Hammer at the TDL, would you guys welcome him back at a reasonable salary if we traded Edler at the draft? - boonerbuck
I'd be happy to take hammer back regardless if Edler is traded |

So we're in agreement that if Hamhuis and Vrbata at some point over the next rougly 100 hrs are not asked to waive their no trades that Linden and Benning are idiots? I mean, I'm willing to let this play out. - Bieksa#3
Any chance that nobody wanted them if that happens? |

A top 4 D man on almost every team in the league and nobody wants him? Surely you are being sarcastic.. I suppose it's a fair point with Vrbata though |

But why wouldn't you give Shink a even breif shot to prove your point? Even his comments suggest they wanted to trade him at all cost. It kind of reminds me of Forsling for Clendenning(but more value from both players) I mean can we try to let a few guys develop? - Bieksa#3
Maybe their thinking was that Shinkaruk wasn't progressing in the way they wanted at the AHL level, so why do they need to experiment with him at the NHL level?
Personally, I like seeing top end draft picks added to the roster for 4-5 games just to see how they look. Some guys play better with better players (Grabner). Other guys look lost (Jensen). Seems like Benning prefers to bring guys up for one or two games just so they get a taste and to provide all the AHL guys a carrot. |

Sarcasm? Where is your sarcasm face ( )
If he surpasses specific offensive numbers, that would mean he came over for tryouts, made the team, played well, scored points....these are all good things that far out-weigh a 4th round (slim to no chance of turning into any of the above mentioned).
sorry if that comment really was sarcasm and i'm over-doing it. - dbot

I believe they have enough room to do think. This have 1.5 mill availve. Hamhuis is approx 1.115
Moving Carles 5.5 and replacing it with 2x2.5 |

I thought they had 4 mil in space due to LTIR
edit:nevermind! I'm sure they could make it work with 1.5 wiggle room. |

No. For all his faults, Edler is still bigger and better offensively. With Tanev and Sbisa coming back you need whatever offense Edler can provide unless you can upgrade him in a trade. Hamhuis was great 4-5 years ago but his time has come. (Unless you're a GM looking to trade us a 1st rounder for him. If that's the case, he's incredible.) |

Because given the fact that Mike Weber got a 3rd and Roman Polok got a 2nd + we can agree that Hamhuis will bring some solid offers. |

Im starting to think McCann and Horvat will be packaged for a rental.
The shink trade is crazy. We may not lose the trade but we can't win it. If Shink doesn't develop the he's Granlund. If he does were (frank)ed. No upside to that trade at all.
The Larson trade is alright in terms of value, but why now?
And to cap it off Benning says the canucks ate open for business on Bartowski, Vey, Kenins, Higgins, Weber, Prust. The only guy who gets anymore then a 5th-7th rounder on that list is Bartowski who probably compares value wise to Mike Weber.
Umm why are we not open for business on Vrbata, Hamhuis and Hansen? (frank)ing gutless weasel linden is. Letting ownershipmanage the roster and saying he makes the calls. What a sellout. I hope the pull his jersey down from the rafters in a few yrs when new ownership takes over and burn the (frank)ing thing. - Bieksa#3
Ok, sometimes you cant think your way out of a wet paper bag.
Trading McCann and Horvat for a rental? Your hatred is getting pretty pathetic.
Hammer and Vrbada have NTC's. If they havent waived, why would you advertise them? AND WHY WOULD BE A NEED TO ADVERTISE THEM ANYWAYS. Only a GM with your IQ would need to be told who the expiring contracts are on the other 29 teams. It's the lesser known assets that need to be announced for obvious reasons(not obvious to you)
You do yourself less and less credit with these posts.

I try to be and I think I am this time. If they don't get some value for Hamhuis and co I'm gonna put it square on Trever Linden. And as I said we may not lose the shink trade but there is no upside - Bieksa#3
Even if Hammer doesnt waive you will blame it on Linden because thats just the way you are.

I certainly hope he is worth more than these two...keep in mind none of the picks are for this years draft. I suspect we will land a 2016 2nd but would be ecstatic with a first. From listening to Lindens interview yesterday it sounds like picks aren't as available as last year. It's a shame because Hammer would have been a first plus a prospect |

After years of silence, I am happy to be back on hockeybuzz. Nice to see the team is still mired in mediocrity with no hope for the future. Just the way we like it. |

Larsen had crazy good wheels and good awareness in his time in Edmonton. A decent shot, looked like he gave a damn (unlike Schultz) by skating miles. He did well on the PP in the short auditions he got, so take that for what it's worth. Would've preferred him over Schultz these past months, but realistically is a replacement for Weber.
Decent chance to take on the guy Hope it works out for you cause he evidently didn't want to come back to the Oilers! |

yeah, trying to think of the exception that would cause the trade not to happen. Hammer doesn't waive, or he resigns... JB feels he is being low-balled and just says screw it, they are staying?
There will be disappointment if they are here after the deadline for sure. |
