The main reason we are fine with a low return for Vrbata is because he wants to miss the playoffs. If this is true, then I wonder what a team will want to pay him next season? Nobody is going to pay money for a guy who openly wants to miss the playoffs. - Retinalz
Where have you heard that he wants to miss the playoffs in his contract year? Makes ZERO sense to do this. The ideal situation for him AND Hamhuis is to go on to win a cup, then have that on their resume's for their next contract negotiation. |

Vrbata should fetch a 2nd and 3rd plus the 2nd becomes a conditional 1st if the acquiring team makes the finals and the 3rd becomes a 2nd if team wins the cup, if nick spaling gets a second and a UFA salary dump (torres) that is only on the books for this season |

So has anyone changed teams yet? or are they waiting until Mar.1st? |

I am just saying, its sad. We all knew we weren't winning a cup last year and we let Matthias and Richardson walk for free. Now we are all "fine" with low returns on quality rentals. The bar has been set so unbelievably low now that any return is a great reward it seems. - Codes1087
We won our division last year. management would have been crucified if they sold assets at the deadline last year. |

If McCann gets dealt it will be in the offseason imo. - dbot
McCann is a JB pick. Seems that JB is cleaning house with the Gillis picks and such...
Hopefully McCann stays. |

I don't think Vrbata would be worth more than that to a non-playoff team unless they're guaranteed that they can re-sign him. And I think with his limited no-trade, he could easily kibosh a deal to a playoff team if he doesn't want to go, which is going to lower his value.
No names jump out at me on Arizona's list of prospect defensemen. - Carol Schram
I don't see this happening but it's certainly possible. Vrbata is playing like I guy that wants out of town asap. Also, if he chooses to only list teams that wouldn't want his services he is not acting in good faith. I think Vrbata has a little more class than this and I can't see him intentionally skewering the Canucks return out of spite.
Edit. Perhaps spite isn't the right word. For personal reasons. His wife isn't due for a few months so I don't think it will be a big deal. |

Yep, I hope that plays a factor, makes him a bit more open to different moves.
I can't see why a non playoff team would want to part with assets for a pending ufa... it might be a possibility, but I wouldn't be happy if JB did that.
as for expectations being lowered, hoping JB will surprise with some of his moves. don't want to get worked up over something out of our control. |

spaling didn't get a second round pick. They paid two future picks for Polak. He was a throw in. You are going to be severely disappointed with return for Vrbata. If we get a second it's a big win |

Hamhuis and Vrbata have been coveted as the consensus in top 10 rentals for a long long time.

Well most of us certainly did. But we don't represent the average fan. We are far superior |

I like McCann. I think he has real potential.
However, i see the logjam we have at C for younger players of his size/skill set.
I'm cool if we keep him or flip him for a Dman of similar age/potential. |
