Hamhuis and Vrbata have been coveted as the consensus in top 10 rentals for a long long time. - Codes1087
Hammer yes.
Vrby, not so much.
The market will dictate what players are worth.
I don't think we'll so as many 1st rounders offered up for rentals this year. |

Yeah, that was pretty ugly. But I don't think there was really any intent to injury on the play |

Definitely one of those situations where the player put himself in a very vulnerable (and stupid) position and Reaves did the wrong thing by not lightening up on the hit.

Looks like his head hits right on the frame of the glass.
I assume that has less give than the glass itself.
Ugly indeed.
I have no problem with the suspension. |

So has anyone changed teams yet? or are they waiting until Mar.1st? - A_SteamingLombardi
As soon as JB gets a 5-7 round for Vrbata we should see the Phucker show and sky is falling hysteria...so might be a little before the 1st of March |

Man have the oilers ever sucked at picking first overalls. McJesus was their only good pick. If they were to pick the second person in every draft but last year their team would be so much different. |

Hammy - definitely search for best possible deal to places he is willing to go. Target future top 3 forwards or top 2 defense in terms of prospects and/or picks. Salary holdback if deal gets better.
Vrby - if anyone on his willing to go to list wants him, then gift him away. He is replaceable from within. Salary holdback if deal gets better.
Burrows - He is still a player I like on the team, but with his salary dollars, if a deal makes sense, and he is willing to move, take it and look for FA signing
Hansen - Should keep one of Hansen or Burrows. Would rather keep Hansen, but depends on what the action dictates
Vey - see Vrby - does he fit with team given Etem/Granlund adds?
Edler - Keep, he is core to the team - unless of course there is a 1/2 D prospect (or Stamkos) coming back.
Bartkowski - If they are not re-signing, they grab what you can - if you can. I don't see him as being the worst thing that can happen on this team. I like him as a 6/7. If it ever clicks his upside is much better than that.
Sbisa - I don't see him being moved
Prust/Higgins - take what you can. If both Burrows and Hansen are moved, then maybe keep Higgy
Rest of the NHLers should be kept unless needed to land top prospect/pick, but don't move Hutton/Horvat.
Prospects - be prepared to through any prospect in for upgraded picks/prospects. I would hate to see Boeser, McCann or Virtanen leaving though.
Stewart - future HOF power forward - Absolutely must hang onto this guy |

Ryan Murray, Landeskog and Seguin
vs
Yak, Nuge and Hall
isn't making the Oilers any more of a contender today. Not to mention hindsight is 20/20 so the whole notion of this concept is pointless. |

Assuming that is what he has planned. None of us really know.....but the assumed consensus on HB is that Vrbatta and Hammer are going to be gone.
So what if he does neither and something else instead? Is there gonna be a virtual riot here? simply because he didnt do what people expected him too? Let's just wait the 5 days and see what happens. Then we can assess and set roster pairings for next season instead of on a trade by trade basis.
Maybe just maybe the man has a heart and wont trade vrbatta seeing as his baby is due at the same time. Maybe he plans to resign hammer and shows allegiance to him for decreased salary. Perhaps there is moves planned for draft time instead. Bottom line....just wait and see in 5 days and go from there. |

I had to look it up...
2010 - 1st Taylor, 2nd Tyler
2011 - 1st RNH, 2nd Landeskog
2012 - 1st Nail, 2nd Ryan Murray
2013 - picked Nurse 7th
2014 - picked Draisatl 3rd
2015 - McDavid.
I dunno. I like Hall and think Tyler was very immature. Might note have worked on a young team like Edm.
I like RNH too, especially this year when he seemed more well-rounded and strong on the stick. Although i accept he is a bit redundant now.
Murray over Nail?. Bit a of a wash imo.
With hindsight their was a lot of great Dmen to take in the 1st round. This was the year they should have traded down. |

He see's numbers for a long long time which is what I dislike. 3 games is not enough IMO. Boarding hits like that are the worst. D-men are so vulnerable in those dump-ins, the last thing they need is that bullpoop |

I agree with you on Burrows. I say Hanson can now fill that role however. I think moving hanson would be stupid.
Vey I suspect is already at his ceiling. Move him somewhere if even the minors in favor of a player we have with more potential. If he's in minors it would be a good contingency plan.
we will find out soon.
it will be interesting to compare the team when JB came on and the one coming into next season in October. |

In your opinion which is founded on nothing but complete speculation... sure. I mean whose to say Seguin ever reaches his full potential if he doesn't get traded to Dallas and play with Benn? All of this kind of hindsight speculation is just silly. We all wish things played out differently at some point or another but going back and saying "look where we'd be if we made these choices differently" is nothing but a futile attempt at convincing ourselves we are in more control of our future than we actually are. |
