Surely you could still 'advertise' and then bring the offer to the agent to see if their is a fit?
- dbot

I don't think other GM's need the list of those players in order to call them up and ask about them. Vrbata and Hamhuis have been at the fore front of trade bait for the last 2 months.

Man have the oilers ever sucked at picking first overalls. McJesus was their only good pick. If they were to pick the second person in every draft but last year their team would be so much different.

don't count on it.

I had to look it up...

2010 - 1st Taylor, 2nd Tyler
2011 - 1st RNH, 2nd Landeskog
2012 - 1st Nail, 2nd Ryan Murray
2013 - picked Nurse 7th
2014 - picked Draisatl 3rd
2015 - McDavid.

I dunno. I like Hall and think Tyler was very immature. Might note have worked on a young team like Edm.

I like RNH too, especially this year when he seemed more well-rounded and strong on the stick. Although i accept he is a bit redundant now.

Murray over Nail?. Bit a of a wash imo.
With hindsight their was a lot of great Dmen to take in the 1st round. This was the year they should have traded down.

I wonder how much trouble he could've possibly got into in Edmonton as compared to Boston...

Hammer yes.
Vrby, not so much.

The market will dictate what players are worth.
I don't think we'll so as many 1st rounders offered up for rentals this year.

- dbot

Vrby... really?
yes, Vrbata has been in most top 10 upcoming FAs, given his 31 goals last year.
Trading McCann would be retarded.

Just saying it wasn't a bad move taking Taylor Hall. Not where was best for Tyler.

I follow the Oil the most these days (used to be the Habs), then the Nucks are probably somewhere in the mix for top 5 teams I follow (mostly because I live in Van and was raised in Quesnel). Not too much of a long-term die-hard of any particular team (flip-flopped a few times), I follow the league in general a lot and I like to keep tabs on exciting prospects. I'll paraphrase Adam French and say I like players more than I like teams.

Edit: Here is the blog I was referring to:

I agree with you on Burrows. I say Hanson can now fill that role however. I think moving hanson would be stupid.

Vey I suspect is already at his ceiling. Move him somewhere if even the minors in favor of a player we have with more potential. If he's in minors it would be a good contingency plan.

we will find out soon.
it will be interesting to compare the team when JB came on and the one coming into next season in October.

we can't trade burrows now.... he's only 12 goals away from breaking into the top 10 in Canucks history for goals

His play this season had been pitiful. I don't think he's on any teams wish list.

Oh no, both picks were good. Just funny to think if Tyler went to Edmonton would he have had the wakeup call or been just been more focused on hockey from the get-go. It would be an interesting simulation for sure

agreed, gifted ice-time, I can really see him going into FA for nothing (and honestly who cares?) that 6m will be nice to spend this summer

If he did go to Edm he'd be having a ball now with Kassian.

Unless Hansen, Miller, Edler were included on that list, I would not interpret this ad 'selling'. Its more emptying the trash.

in that case they should have added WD, Lidster, pearns and gulutzen to that list then

However Im Pretty sure the only coach in history to be traded was Mike keenan, right after the NYR won the cup...along with Tikkanen, Lidster and 608,000 for Petr Nedved and an order that Keenan repay 400K of the 608K and a suspension of 60 days from coaching and GMing the Blues, his new team.

But this is 22 years later, time for another coach trade

we will reload pretty good this draft / summer. Time to turn it around next season and get these kids into an established system. This staff has none, so in order to win in the 2017 season we need to implement one now.

VAN has let other 29 teams know they are open for business on: Vey, Bartkowski, Kenins, Cracknell, Higgins, Prust and Weber.

If they pick a dman with the pick and clear out roster spots, this team is just fine for the future imo, especially if they make a splash in FA

I suppose thats about the rate hes at these days.....playing on 4th line, no kesler, no sedins to wing with. Historically Burrows was not a point producer in any other situation.
