Just lost Wagner to Ducks on Waivers, which is ok. So now I dont see him traded since the 4C spot is pretty weak outside of Mitchell. Hishon would be fun but I dont see that happening if Roy and Sakic are serious about the playoff push

Avs back at 49 contracts which is helpful

The wavier moves also make me feel like the Avs are finally being very serious about the talent. Sakic may have stumbled out of the block with some of the contracts/trades, but seeing guys like Guenin, Wagner, etc on waivers, good salary cap management, recouping 2017 2nd round pick...i feel actual hope.

I agree, I feel pretty comfortable with Sakic at the helm now, I think hes coming along as a GM, really based on reasons you listed.

Plus the fact he mentioned he has tried multiple times land 1dmen (hes not passive as a GM) and mention he would move guys like Tanguay if it made his team better. Sounds more like a Pro of a GM instead of a guy who still has playing day attachment to the Boys.

Messing around with advanced stats at NHL.com. Shocker that #1 & #2 in shots against is Beuch and Holden.

That said, looking at the stats and seeing who is top 20 in some of the shot for/against stats and who is tradable (i.e. out of the playoffs and not going to cost a #1 +) and one name keeps popping up. Ron Hainsey. Car is top 3 in Corsi, 7 in Fenwick. Reasonable contract, ideal #6 d-man to pair with Bigras. I dont think i have watched a single Car game this year, but stats-wise, I am hoping for someone like that.

I remember Hainsey being a big Advance Stats darling that offseason, lots of analysts were saying he would be a smart signing.

Im actually hoping for wiercioch trade at the deadline. Avs were close to getting him fro Elliott at last years deadline, if they could swap gormley or siemens for him, I would be happy with that.

Next year if they go with..
EJ - Bigras,
Wiercioch - Barrie (played well together during World Championships if I remember correctly)
Zads - Beuach.

I would be very happy with a pairing like that. I think Bigras will be ready for tougher minutes next season.

Remember when we almost had Kulikov for McGinn and Elliott?

Oh and Bigras is ready for tougher minutes NOW.
