Yes. They should sell Lehner masks during Halloween. Not his goalie masks, just his face - sbroads24

Lucky for us they have not shown anybody the best parts of the movie in any of the trailers so far - kingcong39
Eh i think i've seen enough from the trailers to piece it together... that said ill still watch it because its supes and bats on the big screen. But I'm liking Marvel's model more for the movies. DC owns the small screen |

He should just make his mask his eyes. I'll admit I was pretty upset when we got him. I got more optimistic come October until he got hurt. Since then I had no real expectations and he's blown me out of the water. |

He's a fierce competitor. He HATES losing. I think it's part of why Murray wanted him above the other guys. He not only knew what his stats looked like, but he knew him as a person and I think he wanted that exact kind of personality in the room.
Bylsma seems to be shocked by him at every turn, which is kind of funny. I remember hearing about how during Camp he couldn't believe how vocal Lehner was on the ice. Said he's never heard a goalie communicate with his teammates that much before.
He did have those 2 bad games a few weeks ago now, but that's to be expected from time to time. Even guys like Quick and Lundqvist have bad weeks. |

On top of that, who cares if any of these guys are successfull? You have to give to get. When you dump a girl you don't fear that she might find the gym and salad and get uber hot, do you? |

It's all sounding good. I was slightly worried those 2 games were him regressing a bit towards his normal, overcorrecting a bit. But he's seemed to have righted that ship quickly.
Yost had a stat that he had a .917 sv % over his first 100 games which was close to quick and crawford and above Miller's .915. If he can be our #1 guy, steal a few games and keep us in most of the rest it'll be a real big help when we're ready to make that jump from lotto team to potential Wild Card team |

It was a pretty good trade for both teams. We got our top 6 winger and a defenseman for 2 guys who needed fresh starts. We ended up giving a bit more but I have no ill will towards Myers and Staff or Armia and Lemiux.
Btw, when Weber was traded he was the last player we had in our system to be drafted with a Red and Black jersey.
Edit: I think Kaleta might have, but he's on an AHL contract so doesn't count |

Makes me wonder where we could be in the standings right now had he been healthy all year. Johnson and Ullmark held the fort pretty well, but you can now see the difference between hold the fort and really keep a team in a game. There were quite a few times where we might have at least gained the loser point here and there.
In the grand scheme of things, I still don't think we would have made the playoffs, so it's probably just a blessing in disguise, but I think overall we'd be closer to that 8th playoff seed than we are to the bottom of the league. |

It's really weird that Ennis is now the longest-tenured guy. It seems like just yesterday he was a rookie in the playoffs. Then again, the playoffs seem like a distant memory. Now I am confused.

The rebuilding Buffalo Sabres should.
I like Kane's game. But in that trade, you need him to be far and away the best player involved. Right now he isn't. You also have 4 futures involved, 3 of them went to WPG.
I'm not going to sit here and say Joel Armia is a bona fide top 6 forward on a cup team, but it also isn't ruled out that he can't be. |

This is from the Darcy Regier school of being fearful that you might some day trade away a guy that might be good coupled with a nice does of falling in love with guys you drafted. So what if they turn out? Sure, it matters when you give away young blue-chip prospects like the Bruins did. We didn't give up anyone of that caliber. Murray took a calculated guess that we got back guys that will work out for us.

For me, the more interesting trades are the ones we didn't make. For example, we turned down Getzlaff for Myers. We were supposedly offered Seguin for Vanek. I am sure there were many more.
Not having a 1C was probably the single biggest problem that we've had over the last few years. In hindsight I am glad that we didn't make those trades. If we had:
- Would the core still be here?
- Would Darcy (cringe) and Lindy still be here?
- Jack, Sam and Risto probably wouldn't be here |

It doesn't appear like the Peg will be in it anytime soon if their trade last night is any indication... I'm still fine with this trade, Staff was UFA and prolly not coming back, been over Myers again and again
Edit: And Armia may or may not be decent... but if his body of work in the AHL is any indication, seems unlikely |

Weber said that his favorite Sabres memory was the Ennis goal in game 5 that he assisted on to win the game in OT. I'll tell ya, that NBC game the other day with the music and the logos really made me miss the Sabres being in the playoffs. I've supported the tank but I'm tired. Next year better be good because it's been exhausting |

Because they could have turned out here.
I can guarantee you that Joel Armia has doubled his value by playing some NHL games and proving he's an NHL player.
I can also guarantee you Evander Kane and Zach Bogosian have lost value by having two off ice incidents (Kane) and a pretty below average year (Bogosian)
Same can be said for the O'Reilly and Lehner trades. Both O'Reilly and Lehner have probably upped their value with good play.

I want to agree because of their division but that was a trade they had to make. They knew it was either Ladd or Buff and they signed Buff. If they didn't think they could compete soon they would have gotten rid of both. |

For me the exhaustion started during that era. I hated the teams post Drury/Briere. They were absolutely nauseating to watch. This season hasn't actually been that bad for me as the kids have played well and we are still in line for a choice pick. That said... it better be on next year. |

That's just the ebb and flow of the league though. You can't not make moves because of a fear of the guy exploding later on down the road. If something looks like it's going to help your team, it should be done. Doesn't mean it's always going to work, but I think it would be worse to do nothing. |

There's always the one of, if we let Vanek go to Edmonton and do our rebuild a few years ago what happens? Can always do coulda, woulda, shoulda. What if we didn't play 4 AHL defensemen against Carolina? |

So Armia had a mini-decent streak and his value went up? So what? Congrats, he might be an NHL player. By this logic Avalanche fans should be jumping out windows.
Once again, if you never want to give up a potentially good player you better be really really good at drafting because you're surely not going to trade for good players with that mentality. This is why other GM's wouldn't trade with Darcy - they said he had to try to kill the other GM to make a trade. |
