You mean the defenseman who ducked and covered from the Kane hit and ended up hurting himself as a result of the duck and cover? - kingcong39

We're going to have A LOT of talent in our top9
As long as we have 3 lines producing,
I don't see the need to label guys as "top6" or "top line" etc - jdfitz77
I kinda disagree, when the young players develop i think you see a lot of 9,15,23,90 &(pick/trade). leaving the 3rd line to match opposing lines |

I'll disagree with that. Today's NHL is much more about having scoring lines than 2 shut down lines. You'll still have a line that can match up but playing your top 9 evenly and your 4th line as a shut down line is more effective imo. No need for 2 scoring, a shut down, and then a line that is just there for hits. Hence why Kaleta and Ellis haven't gotten contracts. |

Bold prediction: Kaleta will be signed and in lineup within next two weeks. Johnson, Legwand, Coliacavo, Franson, Foligno traded. Larsson stays on and assumes 4th line centre role next season |

Now a days, it seems more like u want 3 lines that can score, and can all be effective in their own end as well
For most of the year, in Detroit...
Abdelkader was on the 1st line with Zetterberg
Helm was on the 2nd with Datsyuk
And Nyquist was on the 3rd line
None of that means that Nyquist is only a 3rd liner, or that those other guys are better... They just had 3 lines that fit well together & we're all producing
And that's all that matters...
not these ridiculous labels that ppl want to attach to players
Look throughout the league
Crosby & Malkin don't play together
The Ducks split up Getzlaf & Perry
Toews & Kane don't play together
Etc, etc, etc
I don't think our 6 best players NEED to be on our top 2 lines
There's enough ice time for us to have 3 balanced lines that can all score |

I think Foligno will still be here
He prob doesn't have much trade value, & Murray could see him as a mcginn replacement

Bolder prediction: Only 1 or 2 of those guys are traded. We don't make many big moves this year and McGinn is the only one to garner a decent return. |

Jesus Christ why do you get up so early. What is the point of getting up that early - gerbe75pts
When you only get 2 days off a week you don't want to waste it away snoring. Nothing worse than waking up at noon on a saturday and its sunny and 80 out. Get up early and get the yard work done, truck washed, cooler iced. Someday you will understand. Either you do it yourself or be fortunate enough to pay someone to change that light bulb |

All those players are in the Top 6. I'm not saying ignore your 3rd line, im saying when players are developed youll most likely see 9,15,23,90 in those top two lines |

I'll use the jordan staal when he was on the penguins example. Or the RAV line when the Sabres were good. If you can have 3 really good lines that can score they don't have to have the designation of 1st, 2nd, or 3rd line.
Plus, with Bylsma they won't be together long enough to matter anyways |

I get your point. All I'm trying to say is our current talented players (9,15,23,90) will most likely be playing in the top six.You will see players like 63& 28 on 3rd lines |

Glad i'm not the only one . The only reason for the line numbers is the amount of ice time supposedly. Not all lines work the same for every team. Sometimes the so called 3rd line has better production vs a team . |

Kane was finally producing with O'Reilly & Reinhart
I don't get the need to label this guy as a "1st liner" or not
All that matters is if the line works well together!

I don't care what you call him, he wasn't producing on the line with ROR, which is considered the 1st line.
He was playing awesome on a wing with Larson on the 3rd line.
Based on that, I would look for another LW with ROR and Reinhart.
You call that what you will. |

Nyquist on the 3rd line in Detroit
Hall in Edmonton
Jordan Staal was on the 3rd when in Pittsburgh
Remember when we had Vanek on our 3rd line & how unstoppable our offense was bc of it?
The guys u mention may all be on our top2 lines
But if u bring in Stamkos & a top forward in this year's draft, then u can really spread things out & make it impossible for other teams to try & match up against us |

Let's get that draft pick and plug him in there. Or McGinn. Or Ennis. Should have more options next year as to who goes next to ROR. |

There's something about all this Stamkos talk that I don't like.
First of all, while he's a very good player, I don't think he should be getting paid the same as guys like Kane and Toews.
Secondly, I'm not sure how I feel about all the "I want to play center" which then changes to "I want to play wing" which then changes back to "I want to play center" stuff.
It's just my opinion, and I'm sure I'm about to get roasted for actually putting it out there. But, there it is. It's just a gut feeling I have. |

Since coming into the league doesn't he have more goals than them? Towes you can say has a different dimension but that's Kane's thing. Now, Kane and Towes also have 3 rings but that's a team thing as well. That being said, he's going to get that much money not just because of the type of player he is but because a player of his caliber doesn't become a UFA very often. He'll get 12/6 and he'll be a great player. I don't think it'll be here, but it'll happen somewhere. |
