To be fair there's 4 in the past 6 seasons, including a generational talent. And I think "not the worst" might be an acceptable substitute for "the best". - 1979AD
3rd and 7th overall in the other years...there is no excuse for how bad they are. Worse with McDavid in the lineup so don't give me injuries |

That player that you mention would be approaching elite. There's one level above a player like Hamonic. The deal tha Hamonic is on plus that fact I'm assuming he'd want to play in Edmonton, imo makes it an elite value for the oilers. Hamonic and mcdavid can be linchpins - Just5
Oil need a big shakeup, so massively overpaying for a single piece of the puzzle isn't going to allow them to fill their needs.
The Reinhart deal was already a waste of valuable assets that could have been packaged together for a more sure thing. Like Hamonic.... |

This is nothing new, its been said repeatedly for a year. PC will make a deal when one is available to him. Probably at the draft. - Oilfan19
Only deal I see is Yak to the Canadians, his next gamble after the Semen flop.

They miss Klefbom way more than they missed McDavid.
He isn't playing because he's injured. FWIW. |

terrible, not sure how you guys have put up with this for 10 years
defensive much? I said they need to move salary at forward...they do they are the WORST TEAM IN THE NHL and everyone and their dog knows its because of a lack of D. With the contracts on the horizon any idiot can see the Oilers will have to move forwards. - flashfire
Aggressive much?
So you have no idea how it feels?
You consider that half decade before the blip last year, then back to bottom feeding this year, as success??!
I guess better than the very bottom could be considered positive for those with low expectations ....I won't argue with your feelings I guess. Better than the oilers is setting the bar pretty low.
Id rather actually be good before throwing stones. But that's just me |

They have nothing that they would be willing to part with that would interest the Oilers. |

Yeah, tough luck indeed. - 1979AD
No, just reality
It Doesn't always fit the narrative we try and push, but it is what it is
4 first overalls sounds so much worse in this context than;
Yakupov
Nuge
20 games of an 18 year old
And hall
As you well know, it's called "framing" |

Yeah that sucks because being a fan of both clubs I'd really like to see that deal happen. Hopefully they can find a way to work something out even if the Habs just send the Oil some decent assets that they could add into a different trade (maybe for Hamonic). |

Eller maybe? Use him a defensive 3c. Nuge and Jesus can be 1/2 and Drai can play wing. |

2017 2nd round pick? We`ll win more games when he`s gone and we can grab him on wavers when they oust him |

If pc has something up his sleeve, do what u gotta.
And obviously don't know what the offers look like.
But best case, I'd really rather not move yaks for picks.
Even a defensive true middle 6'er/3rd liner
Maybe adding something minor could get Eller? |

(frank) that.... We take on a player who can go UFA in two season and gets overpaid at 3.5 million per. |

I don't see us getting much more for him. Plus a decent two way 3c is a need.
And yaks ain't helping us win |

Not neccesarily
Ebs/nuge/hall are all much better than decent and we're considering dealing them
End of the day, I have no idea if Eller is available, but the Habs struggle to score. They just couldn't over that losing streak at all.
Maybe they see yaks as a cheap option with huge scoring upside
Eller actually reminds me of pouliot abit. Quite talented actually. Just hasn't put up the numbers for whatever reason. But a solid player. |

I am not throwing stones...just stating the obvious the Oilers need to trade forwards. They can't keep them all anyway with the cap and need defense
Flames need goaltending its no secret, if you were to say that I wouldn't get all defensive.
Calgary also has ONE top five pick in their lineup not 4 first overalls and a 3rd overall...sorry that I feel they have no business being at the bottom of the league about to tie the record for missing the playoffs. |
