They're not terrible numbers either. Talbot seems like a goalie that can play well with good support and a good system. Honestly, it might be better for them to lose the lottery this year. They don't need to pick Matthews, they use the 3rd-5th pick on a defenseman. If they do get 1st they should either trade it or trade a forward for a D-man.

Btw, Edmonton has 8 more goals for and 33 more against than the Sabres in 1 extra game.

I'm not saying that he's great. As a matter of fact, I know he leaves a lot to be desired. Have you seen their lineup though? At this point, I think the Rochester Americans have a better team, and that's saying something because they're not very good either.

Actually, the 716 house sauce is pretty good. I got it based on a friend's recommendation last time I was in town. I don't remember what it is exactly, but I thought it was fairly tasty. Of course, then you are not getting real wings.

Gabriel's Gate has excellent wings, and they aren't too far away.

Just not a place I'd go for wings. I'd go there when I want to go to Canalside and it's a nice day out. Or for a beer before/after a game. Other than that, nah.

They've changed the goaltender several times. Remember when they had Dubnyk? I said it way back then, that he wasn't the problem.

It's the blueline. They've made a few small improvements, but they mostly have a bunch of guys that are probably best suited to be a 4-6, and just 1 guy that really should be able to play top pair minutes.

That's fine, but that's not what they need to worry about atm. They need to get the guy that can play in game 7 and game 77 of the regular season. Let them make the playoffs before they worry about the playoff goalie. Talbot can be that guy.

Next season is huge for both the Sabres and Oilers. Both teams need to be out of the bottom 10 otherwise the season is a disaster.

Looked at the standings, Leafs and Oil below us. I'm really wondering, what do the Oilers have to do to move up? I mean, we suck and we've sucked all year but we've gotten better than last year. I'm not trying to make the joke of the Oilers always being bad but they have McDavid back, they have a new coach, a new GM. We're in the boat of we need one more winger and a couple defensemen but 1 draft and a decent offseason and we feel we can try to contend.

What do they need to do? I don't think another #1 pick is going to help them. If they win the lottery, do they trade down or trade someone that they wouldn't without it?

24-25 point increase is a beautiful thing. Nothing to get down about.

Where is Ference??? Dude was a godsend for them for a lot of last year... Never heard jack about him any more and now i just ready that he had a hip injury in late January and is done for the year. That is a huge loss.

I agree, but we do still suck. We just sucked way more last year. We've improved. Main point with us was, say what you will and yeah, we're bad, but we're not that bad.

Edmonton had 62 points last year. With 20 games they have 50. That's not improvement. That's at best stagnation.

Really? I recall him being just awful. And he was a healthy scratch for a lot of this year too i believe.
