Not really an exciting prospect and the draft pick is 2 years away! I'm glad Weise didn't get much

If Benning made a trade that landed a 2018 second rounder, he'd probably be mocked. Then again, if the garage sale seven got a 7th rounder in 2038, he'd be considered savvy.

Im hoping that a couple of the other contending teams take a look at what Chicago is doing and start stepping up their game before Monday.

It's the only real positive. LA and WSH are bound to try something... I hope.

Absolutely...it's been interesting so far....but seriously, a 2018 pick, that's rediculous

If WAS doesn't go all in then management should take a lot of heat. They have been a disappointment for so many years and they finally seem to be clicking. This is with out question their best chance at a cup. If Weber is their big pickup heads should roll

Smart move from Chicago though. Sell of future picks and then recoup them later when all the talent cannot be resigned and other teams are salivating over picking up Stanley cup champs.

I think the Hawks did this after their 1st s/c when they were forced to unload Ladd, Buff, Versteeg, etc.

Absolutely. Every team should model themselves after the Hawks. They don't even have a strong prospect pool but teams still want to trade for them as they are obsessed w the Hawks

Hutton will not be exempt next season. ELC doesn't matter if you've played more than 70 games this year.
- Retinalz

Will he make 70 this year?

I don't really agree. I would have loved for Gillis to have been a little more adventurous at the deadline when we were legitimate contenders. You can't guarantee a cup but you can go all in letting your fans and players know that you are serious.

There is nothing wrong with trying. The winners win and everyone else loses. Giilis tried and didn't win and look at everyone today complaining about no prospects.

He Kinda did. I think that the problem was that he didn't sell a quarter of the lineup for futures to perpetuate the success of the future. Rinse repeat, al la Chicago.

Gillis never even came close acquiring a player like Ladd at the TDL. He was too concerned with finding undervalued players Moneyball style. The fact that he couldn't do anything with the assets he kept is just the icing on the shlt cake he baked us.

This is going to be a rough 24 months for this fan base. We are going to have more and more games like last night , but when we don't we will hear the moaning.

I expect next year we will sink lower. Patience is key. We need to let go the past.

Bringing back the older slower guys to play a safe game prolongs the future.

Next year we have Edler Tanev Hutton Sbisa Pedan Biega under contract . We are probably brining in Tryamkin and Larsen. We need to get past bring back Hamhuis . Hamhuis will keep us out of the bottom 8 but will do d1ck all to help the future of this team. Make a trade.

We have very good forwards coming up . If you look at last night the old guys look slow and the first line didn't score but we still got 5 goals. Let the Sedins finish their contract but then say bye. We need to let the Boesers and who we draft this year have a spot and say bye and thanks to the vets.

Gillis gave up first and seconds. Pitts did too and both prospect pools dwindled. LA and Chi who drafted smart won 5 of 6

Unfortunately I'm leaning towards that probability as well.
In Hamhuis's case, i think its a deal that would take quite awhile to pull the trigger on due to all the moving parts (family, NTC, looking over the deal etc). As such, i doubt it's one that could be pulled off last second come Monday morning.

If he ain't gone by tomorrow night (at most Sunday morning) i doubt he moves at all.

Edit: Plus the chatter has completely died and the Chicago option now looks moot.

That's because Gillis never re stocked the cupboards when we needed to.
