If they win the cup, nobody remembers. If they lose in the first round, he will take serious heat
- CanuckDon

If they win then it won't matter, except it could be argued they may have won it anyhow. Just my opinion, but I think he went a little "wifey at the mall" this deadline.

The Ladd trade seemed excessive....oh well, they take chances every year and so far it's working

I'm not a huge fan of Bowman's moves this year. He gave up quite a bit for Ladd, and acquired a bunch of scrap of which the most useful piece is probably Weise.
- golfingsince

The assets they gave up were just picks and an offensive prospect in Dano. They can survive that since they're so over stacked in offensive talent. The reason why they haven't completed a deal with the Canucks is because they're asking for assets they need themselves..... Cheap and productive d-men like pokka and Svedberg.

I'm not concerned that they haven't dealt with the Canucks, I just don't really get it. I think Ladd is one hell of a player but they've given up Dano, a 1st, 2nd and Danault for Ladd and Weise. I'm not sure Fleischman will even dress in the playoffs.

Also, that's a ton of new blood in a locker room.

Toews is turning 28 this spring. Their window to win a couple of more championships is realistically the next 3 years, might as well go all in.

The good thing about them loading up is that it puts the pressure on all the other contenders, the phones should be ringing off the hook

Let's hope so...ANA and WAS should be all in. They are perennial under achievers that have a shot

I'm hoping Anaheim feels the pressure! They have lots of good young assets!

Yes maybe so but i wonder if cap uncertainty will make this TDL less active than previous years. Furthermore the bad contracts will be bigger anchors n rich teams in a rebuild a la the Leafs have a good opportunity now. Hoarding draft picks an using ELC's will be more prominent n further stagnate trading. Doesn't bode well for older players besides the stars. A bigger rift will occur n bridge contracts more prevalent n short 1yr show me contracts to follow. Then more movement in UFA's likely to occur.
Idk if i presume the future well while the Canadian buck sits so low but it seems logical to me. Eg resigning say the Sedins n Hamhuis could be at a discount. The NHL might see more younger n cbeaper players for awhile til the the dollar moves back up if it even does. The US Fed needs to up interest rates lol

Teams like TB n Anaheim stand out to me with many RFA's n Stamkos will be examples i figure.

That's because Gillis never re stocked the cupboards when we needed to.
Major difference. Q

That's because Gillis was busy contending every year (until ownership brought in he who will not be named). Can't re-stock and make a serious push as a contender at the same time.

like i suggested earlier, maybe to SJS for a 2nd/3rd or a B prospect and a cap dump?
- GloveHandStrong

What's even the point if that's all we get? We're better off with a solid 2 goalie combo to limit the bleeding next year rather than go full Oilers and teach all the kids how to accept losing.

I think a 3 player deal with Ana would be nice Gibson is always getting hurt, they like hansen and we also give them Hammer.

They give us Vantanen and a 2nd plus i guess andersen to clear the position up

- TJTD

Anderson's playing great. Why would Anaheim bother with this? They need a Hansen type player. A grinder with some scoring ability. Belesky was a big loss for them.

Well considering we held on too long I don't think too many clubs want our scraps.

I would not expect much. The time to sell Vrbata and Burrows was last summer.

I could see teams being interested in cracknel.... He's a solid 4th line centre. I doubt vrbata gets dealt and hammy will probably only want to go to Anaheim and the return won't be as great as we hoped.

My expectations this trade.

Hamhuis 30 % chance deal is done . Indecision and cost prevent things from happening. Gone at the end of the year

Vrbata for a third.

Bartowski for a fifth or fourth

Weber for a 7 th

Vey for a third.
