Special teams are equivalent to turnovers in football...

First time poster long time follower. I have a question, do Power play goals still only count as quarter as much of an even strength goal?

I'll sign off and read.

So if you win the turnover battle (PK and PP) your odds of winning are that much greater?

Game could have been 6 -0 sharks last night the only reason why they lost is because we have their number

What game were you watching? That was the most boring game I have watched all year

Amongst all the Bogo banter. The one thing that I truly dislike about his contract is it escalates throughout to 6m for the last couple seasons.

I think he meant an interception or a fumble is worth 1 goal during a football game.

But that doesnt change his cap hit. Unlike the NFL the NHL uses the average of the term of the contract.

Therefore if someone makes 3 million 4 million then 5 million on a 3 year deal their cap hit is $4 million per year not the actual dollars paid out. Myers would have been a $10 million cap hit his first year after signing his extension with the Sabres

If this is a place where we can be open and honest about everything in life, and consequently sabres related...

The thing I hate about Bogosian, is he makes all that money, and he doesn't even shave, what a Richard.

In all seriousness, special teams being irrelevant during a hockey game is an unfounded statement. While there are exceptions such as last night, where there are no penalties, or nights where their are no power play goals, however that is the minority. How many 1 goal games are there during the nhl season? Special teams can directly impact your win total, by 5 or 10 games. I don't know, that is significant enough for me to be concerned about special teams.

There have been 3 games without a penalty called in the NHL this year and the Sabres were apart of 2 of the three. Last night and a game in November against the Islanders

Florida has bunch of trade options on the table. Have heard package for Prince/Wiercioch as one. Also considering rentals in McGinn/Purcell. Via Yost.

I know if few on here have liked both.

I'm very impressed with this boards ability to always take everything to its extreme.

No one said they were irrelevant. The question was asked on how it's possible we would be top 10 in both PK and PP and still be a bad team. Simple answer is 5 on 5 is much more important. That's a fact. Not an opinion. We are bad at scoring 5 on 5

How will the Nordiques afford EKs salary? I have a feeling this could have a bad economic outcome for our brethren in Quebec.

Often asked where Drouin may go. No strong sense at this time. I'd say 15 to 20 teams have shown varying degrees interest at varying times.

Very surprised no Buffalo on this list. I don't see Drouin getting moved until the summer
