This isn't true at all. Gorges has been a detriment to ristos defensive game since day 1

Risto has been a detriment to Risto's defensive game. I love Risto, but let's not delude ourselves into thinking that he doesn't need a ton of work on his defensive game.

Positioning especially, he lets guys get inside of him way too easily. I honesty think it could still be from playing on the bigger ice where you can play out a little farther, and not get beat to the inside so fast and add to that the speed factor of the NHL over the Finns and you have a not so great recipe. Think of goals scored on him, one exact one I can think of was the Marchand phantom penalty shot, while not a goal, it was a high danger chance. And he scored on the penalty shot which was a direct result of him being out of position. If he wasn't out of position the call wouldn't have happened. There are others that I can think of, just not the specific game/opponent.

It's a risk but called increasing a value

We actually get a better return with him next deadline as a rental

His salary is pretty low next year only $2M I think. His cap hit isn't great at $3.25M? Somewhere in there.

I don't disagree, Gorges isn't helping though. He's going to need to work on his d-game and he's going to need a partner to help him out. The idea that he's the Tallinder to his Myers (which was a ridiculous theory to begin with back in the day) is incorrect.
