He STINKS!!!

Risto has been a detriment to Risto's defensive game. I love Risto, but let's not delude ourselves into thinking that he doesn't need a ton of work on his defensive game.

Positioning especially, he lets guys get inside of him way too easily. I honesty think it could still be from playing on the bigger ice where you can play out a little farther, and not get beat to the inside so fast and add to that the speed factor of the NHL over the Finns and you have a not so great recipe. Think of goals scored on him, one exact one I can think of was the Marchand phantom penalty shot, while not a goal, it was a high danger chance. And he scored on the penalty shot which was a direct result of him being out of position. If he wasn't out of position the call wouldn't have happened. There are others that I can think of, just not the specific game/opponent.

Sometimes your put in bad situations. Bad bounces, rookies not supporting, a bad pass, 1 good shift by opponents etc. i really dont see our defense as being a problem. I think most of our defensemen are fairly justified when mistakes happen. Not like mike webber who would try to skate stride for stride with phil kessel and get burned or always give up our blueline no matter the situation or board a guy in our corner every other game.
