It's pretty obviousy he's going to stay here, can we move on? Honestly its in black and white, he wants to stay here, and there's no deal to be had in those teams (Dallas ISNT going to trade with us) - Crazybagoham
If he is going to stay, that's fine... just come out and say it or don't say anything at all... mixed messages aren't very endearing. |

Anyone know why Markstrom aint at practice?
Dallas is in the market for a tender... - Whiskey-Tango
I would riot again if Markstrom got traded beofre miller |

I'd say Dallas is kind-of in a win now mode.
They have one more year of Jamie Benn before he gets like $10 million a year.

agreed, they need to just sign this guy for 2 more years. It boggles my mind Vrbata isnt traded yet, yet they are still considering hamhuis. Does JB not look at the depth roster? Cant blame hamhuis for this, he gave his 3 teams, and he has a NMC, JB is the one incapable of not dragging his feet on a trade. |

uhm he's a college player who's never played an NHL game? We dont even know for sure if he's going to come to Utice next season, let alone NHL ready. He's solid, but he can still elect to finish school. I reserve judgement on college players till I see them play in the big leagues, they can be hit or miss. |

yep, took a few seconds to recognize it as D!ckinson...
Ben Kuzma @benkuzma ยท 3m .
If Dallas is Hamhuis destination, Stars have big, young D in Oleksiak, 23, and Nemeth, 24, who might be available. #Canucks - hillbillydeluxe
Both have size which the Canucks desperately need on their backend. But maybe even more than size, they need someone on the back end who can actually shoot to score. These two guys seem to project to be more of an upgrade on Sbisa rather than Edler. Isn't that's what they should be looking for if they want a decent top 4 in a couple of years? |

could someone give JB a call and just ask him if Hamhuis was ever in his long term plans or if those plans have changed since he isn't going to waive...
I am a bit confused about the idea that you would all of a sudden think it would be smart to resign him if you planned on trading or letting him walk.

Okay these guys might be 3rd pairing, at best, by no means are they NHL ready. Just because they are the best we have in the system, doesnt mean we should trot out both of them. If both Pedan and Larsson are in the top 6 next season, consider our Defense the worst in the nhl. - Crazybagoham
Totally agree.
Hutton was a pleasant surprise this year, but we're dreaming if we think 2 rookies can just walk into the top 6 next year. |

true true, but obviously he doesnt want to leave, so he has a good relationship with the organization. I just dont see why they wouldnt want him, on the right side of 30, and its such a premium position, not easily traded for, I'd hate to see us give up another defensemen for nothing (2 2nds for Bieksa/garrison isnt enough for me tbh.... top 4 d men that battle dont grow on trees, no matter the age)

Markstrom and Miller both have a year remaining then will be ufa if that cap central is correct, maybe I shouldn't get ahead of myself but sooner or later we will have to move one... |

Always the same story around here. Change for the sake of change......even if it means replacing a quality NHL player with a piece of poop. |

Would you trade a 2nd for Bieksa and a 2nd for Garrison now? |

funny coming from a leafs fan, who just sold reimer and phaneuf for garbage in hopes of losing. |

with those 2 in our lineup, our defense wouldnt have been a sieve this year, and we probably would have slipped into the playoffs, so ya. I like watching winning hockey... dunno about you :p |

I think the fact that we had so many yougins step up this year has given a false sense of security, with fans believing it can happen regularly.
Hutton, Marky, JV, McCann and even Baer to an extent were all unproven kids that exceeded expectations. I just think to believe Gaunce, Pedan, Tryamkin, that new Edmonton olier Dman, etc can join the ranks as regulars is unlikely. |

If Hamhuis stays, some other moves will have to be made. too many lhd's
He battles, but we need another dman or two that don't just battle, but have size and are hard to play against. We have to give a guy like Pedan a shot or he'll end up like Tinordi did with MTL or Corrado with us.
Rebuilding team, give young guys a shot and live with the growing pains.
Or trade Edler. |

Demko is going to be the guy. Whether Markstrom or Miller (or both) move on it is of no consequence. |
