Doug Murray and Eric Staal @ 50% have basically the same trade value. - YouMeAndDupuis9
Eric will Probably re-sign with the Canes after the season is over or come to Pittsburgh to play with Sid |

But yeah, they gave up nothing. - cranktheradio
And got a guy with exactly 3 more goals than Bobby Farnham this season. |

Last season Kessel had MTR, PIT, BOS, NYR, LAK, CHI, PHI, TBL. This season you could probably just change PIT with TOR. - jfkst1
Why on Earth would Kessel want to go back to Tor? I would imagine that would be the last place in the league he'd be willing to play.

I think his "list" is mostly a method of making a trade as prohibitive as possible. He also trains there during the offseason and still owns a residence there as well so I doubt he was be opposed to returning despite the fan base objections. |

I love the MORONS who think getting Schultz is a bad move. How many third round draft picks are playing a positive role in the success of their team......5 years from now. Answer ZERO. This guy was put in a very awkward role in Oilerville. That team is a disaster. No leadership and a bunch of young guys trying to figure out how to WIN in an impossible situation. There is very little downside to this trade. Schultz will be put in a situation where he can learn how to win with guys who already know how. Gonch will help him and the best thing that could happen to him was getting out of Edmonton. You people who criticize are those who think they know it all. When in fact you don't know crap. That is why YOU are not a GM and working (maybe) at a job that keeps you off of welfare. |

You should read the Oilers blog. It called Schultz' time in Edmonton a "long nightmare." Mind you, this is one of the worst sports franchises in NA that was terrible well before Schultz arrived. |

It's not that I'm particularly upset that we got Schultz specifically. I do not believe he will help our team what so ever but its ok to take a flyer on a reclamation project. I'm just wondering what else we could have gotten for our third. When you have precious few assets like us, you have to spend them wisely, and we didn't do that by trading for Justin Schultz. |

Pretty much our entire bottom six (including Nick Bonino) is made up of third and below rounders. |

Purcell easy, and RW isn't even a position of need compared to LW and maybe RD. |

I heard theres a good chance Lovejoy is done for the season. Pens needed D support to begin with, they didn't have much to offer for a quality D man. A 3rd for a guy that is better than Cole is fine. DP still look pretty iffy, if Shultz can play as good as Daley its a fine move. |

Of course I'll be happy if Schultz comes in here and becomes Daley 2.0. I just don't think it will happen and I honestly don't think he's better than Cole. Pouliot-Schultz sounds like a damn disaster. |

Good points. Until I see what other D go for (beyond Weber types) I can't say whether this was a good deal of not. If Russell for example goes for a 1st, this was a great deal.
And we have no idea what we're going to get. Edmonton fans hated him, but Pittsburgh fans have given up on Malkin and Crosby at times. I mean, Johnston's negligence made Crosby mortal, I have no doubt that Edmonton's circus can ruin a player pretty quickly, too.
I mean, Jeff Petry was a -47 his last two years in Edmonton, and he's been fine for the Canadiens. |

Read the post correctly I said 5 years from now. Who is that third rounder You don't know idiots You don't know There are exceptions to all the rules If you go by percentages that third rounder will be insignificant in 5 years. He will be called Mr. Irrelevant |

Ive honestly never seen him play, so I dont have much of an opinion on him. I just dont think the Pens were in a position to get anyone that great to begin with. |
