Babs gets his peepz to play hard...kudos there
Never questioned the Leafs effort just how n why it exists.
By that of course i mean the fans know they were fine with a rebuild
but the better word is a do over eg teardown.
Pretty ducats to watch it I might add.
Lets say a fair price charged n the revenue downturn effected the NHL
in very significant way that would be the market correcting itself.
Sure would be fun ti see what the cap would be then.
Imagine how many teams that r overpaying players would be in trouble?
The best run teams moneywise would rise above.
Anaheim SJ Arizona Florida etc.

Here's a question.

If the Canucks were doing poorly in the 2017-2018 season, would Canucks fans like to trade the Sedins at the 2018 deadline for a few high quality assets for the future, or do you hold on to them and let them either walk for nothing or possibly extend them in the name of loyalty, honour and integrity?

Are they though ? If leafs management goes out and spends to the cap then most of the kids playing now don't get any ice time and the guys that are on one year deals don't get paid ....seriously this is how a proper rebuild works ...as much as most in here hate the leafs they are doing it right so far ...as long as they make sure to insulate their youth and not rush them
- Redmile247

I think you hit on a big point.... "insulate their youth". I do not see how that can happen unless they vastly overpay for some middle of the road UFAs as high end talent will want nothing to do with a rebuild.

But somehow the Leafs are cheaters for doing the exact same thing.

The fact that so many from different fan bases are upset about the Leafs recent moves means one thing... They're doing something right!

1st its up to Sedins with their NMC's.
Otherwise its moot.
That said they would go the route Sundin went IMO.
They want to retire Canucks thats their loyalty n integrity in a nutshell.
Doan is similar in Arizona. Players who stick it out thru thick n thin r pros.
Rarely does a player play a whole career for one team n should be acknowledged.
Yzerman Sakic Sedins Toews recently come to mind.

You do realize the Canucks used to be very good at "drawing penalties"

One could argue that is not a very honourable way to play the game

Yes, I'd have to agree it is. Something I've reiterated several times over the past many months. There many posters who think trading the Sedins would be in our best interest, but the NTC is an issue and I wouldn't blame them for not wanting to move.

They seem like the kinda guys that if you asked them to they would. They seem like great guys tbh.

What do they make? 5-6shmil each?

The real issue would be finding someone with that kinda cap space as im sure they'd only waive as a package.

everything is OK until the leafs start doing it

but that's ok. if it is pissing some of these guys of so much the leafs must be doing something right

- Lee Denault

That's BS. Plenty in here have criticized the Oilers and Buffalo for doing the same. And oddly, posters from those teams never felt the urge to come and set us straight.
