why? You work the phones and your phone is ringing. if anything it is easier because Hammer is a good guy and give you a few options. - TJTD
Limited options when only contenders. Patience.
Something will give for a D of his pedigree.

Burke saying russell is gone as of today should mean hamhuis is gone too. - mauryballstein
The word on the street is Russel is more coveted than Hamhuis. This puzzles and angers me |

Is there a line-up of teams willing to trade significant returns or is this just what you think should happen. And you do realize that it has to agree with Hamhuis not us as fans. - Makita
At some point Benning does deserve some responsibility for not being able to get deals done (if that in case happens). I personally think he will get something done but when you see guys like Polak, Weise, Fleichman, Winnek, Purcell, Kindl all moving for something, there is no reason that some of the Canucks shouldn't be able to be moved.

Hamhuis isnt going to waive for a trade that works for Benning but doesn't work for Hamhuis. He wants to go to a team that's a contender. Out of those teams maybe a couple are willing o make a move maybe... JB can do his job and still end up with little. - boonerbuck
If he wanted to be on a contender (Hawks, Wash, LA) he should have waive his NTC two weeks ago. Many teams didn't want to wait in fear he wouldn't, and his opportunities to play for those teams diminished.
Now he'll be lucky to end up on a top tier contender and instead will end up on a secondary contender like Dallas. |

Find a way to do your job and get it done, or find someone that will. |

You're fired - A_SteamingLombardi
I guess I'm missing something, I'll break down what I've read.
1. Hamhuis has 3 teams willing to go to, but if JB doesn't know this....it's his fault
2. If JB knows and will only talk to the other teams and not the 3......it's his fault
3. If JB only talks to the 3 teams and can't get a deal done..............it's his fault
4. JB is hampered by a NTC.........................................................it's his fault
No matter how this shakes out it's Bennings fault.
There will be mass hysteria no matter what happens, trade no trade, I think I'm starting to want JB to give up Hamhuis to Dallas a second overall and maybe a fifth...so 56th and 146th. What a great deal |

yeah, I know that's my point. Now his options are very limited.
He really screwed his own chances of getting on a serious cup contender. |

As I said, my post was worded improperly, but not your just purposely reading it wrong. I was saying that unless Hammer is unwilling to waive his NTC, any other reason he isn't traded is JB's fault and inexcusable. Reports are that there are 3 teams, but JB would know for sure. By now he would have asked Hammer who he would be willing to waive to in order to work on a deal. No GM would be working on a deal this close to deadline without knowing whether or not the player would waive to the teams he is dealing with. This is basically saying that if hammer is willing to go to 3 teams(example) and JB doesn't like what they offer so he starts working the other 26 instead with no assurance Hammer will waive, then there may be an issue with JB(ala GMMG) |

It's just that simple, isn't it? - Marwood
No, but it is something that I consider an attribute of good management. Again I do think Benning will get something done today but as tiring as it is to hear people constantly complaining about every move or non move made, I find it equally annoying listening to people making excuses for Benning on every move or non move.
Like I said at some point he bears some responsibility and it isn't only the market, players, etc. that continues to be thrown around as why this team doesn't get much for it's players. |
