As I said, my post was worded improperly, but not your just purposely reading it wrong. I was saying that unless Hammer is unwilling to waive his NTC, any other reason he isn't traded is JB's fault and inexcusable. Reports are that there are 3 teams, but JB would know for sure. By now he would have asked Hammer who he would be willing to waive to in order to work on a deal. No GM would be working on a deal this close to deadline without knowing whether or not the player would waive to the teams he is dealing with. This is basically saying that if hammer is willing to go to 3 teams(example) and JB doesn't like what they offer so he starts working the other 26 instead with no assurance Hammer will waive, then there may be an issue with JB(ala GMMG)
- Retinalz

That's why I asked if it was sarcasm...I'm having a hard time understanding why JB can be blamed if the supposedly 3 teams are not willing to give what Hamhuis is worth. If it's Dallas as DH said he'd like to go, you and everyone else like Hertzman are thinking take whatever you can get, I disagree, Hamhuis is worth more than 56th overall

No, but it is something that I consider an attribute of good management. Again I do think Benning will get something done today but as tiring as it is to hear people constantly complaining about every move or non move made, I find it equally annoying listening to people making excuses for Benning on every move or non move.

Like I said at some point he bears some responsibility and it isn't only the market, players, etc. that continues to be thrown around as why this team doesn't get much for it's players.

Dallas has only 2.2m cap space n going for both Russell n Hammer that means both Calgary n us eat salary meaning good returns coming back.

I see it as his fault where as by 12pm today, if say the best those 3 teams offer is a 2nd and JB says "no I will just keep him and lose him for nothing if i don't resign him. Rather than get a 2nd for him now and still be able to resign him in July 1 if i want to."

EDIT: Btw I did respond to your sarcasm msg and clarified what I meant

I guess I'm missing something, I'll break down what I've read.
1. Hamhuis has 3 teams willing to go to, but if JB doesn't know this....it's his fault
2. If JB knows and will only talk to the other teams and not the 3......it's his fault
3. If JB only talks to the 3 teams and can't get a deal done..............it's his fault
4. JB is hampered by a NTC.........................................................it's his fault

No matter how this shakes out it's Bennings fault.

There will be mass hysteria no matter what happens, trade no trade, I think I'm starting to want JB to give up Hamhuis to Dallas a second overall and maybe a fifth...so 56th and 146th. What a great deal

I wouldn't mind if Benning did nothing at all so a few fringe fans would finally take the plunge and cheer for a different team. It would be so peaceful around here if we removed the asset management crowd

Well if you don't comment on all the constant complaining post, but you will on the people making excuses for Benning post...interesting.

I'm not making excuses for JB, I can't believe the naivety that if he can't get a good return it's his fault.

Then it would be just the circle jerk gang and you guys can jerk on all day long about the canucks and mediocrity in general. Sounds like fun.

I see the Benning hatetards are slowly creeping in What part do you not grasp that Hamhuis doesn't really want to leave. Benning can only do so much! It takes 2 to make a trade. He is doing his job. When Hamhuis came out and said that he would love a Vermette type trade. That may have scared some teams to giving up big assets for a rental. Remember...Hamhuis does not owe the Canucks any favors. He negotiated for the NTC. He desired to play in Dallas but Dallas wants Russell. If no trades get done today it will be a little disappointed but the sun will still rise. Give Benning time. He is trying to clean up the mess that clown Gillis left.
