I think we should reserve our thoughts and comments until after the Summer. Benning must have something in mind with all this money freed up. If he does nothing, than we can start to pick apart - Codes1087
You know damn well that's not how it works today. Benning couldn't make a trade today. This team is doomed for rest of eternity. |

3.25 isnt going to kill your teams cap over the next 3 years of starting to become competitive. It shows good faith in your players and fans. We aren't going to turn this around over night. - Codes1087
Even if they draft a D man with the 1st. He will still need a couple of years to be ready. |

Parallel deal available from Dallas for Hamhuis.
Another deal offered at the end that didn't make sense for them..... |

To make room to resign Hammer is needed 1st.
Maybe @3m/3yrs with bonuses makes sense idk
No matter what thats for another day n by then the landscape will have changed.
Offseason n the draft will be more important then the Hamhuis question follows. |

2 years at less than 2?
Surely he is worth more than that... Is he worth 4.5? No...
But his stats do not lie, he is still a top 4 D-man in this league.
I would offer him 3.25 x 3 with a full NTC for the first 2 years and a Limited NTC in the last year. - Codes1087
If he wanted to go to market he could probably get 4x4.5
Look what Paul Martin, Brooks Orpik, Tyutin, Bieksa, Beauchemin etc. got.
A poopty dman like Mark Stuart gets 2.6 |

Totally. Fans want a fire sale and want a complete rebuild, but also wants results and a cup within 2 years. |

This is not Bennings or Hamhuis's fault.

Benning says DAL deal for Hamhuis was parallel deal to what CAL got for Russell, but Stars chose the Alberta option

CHI needed money to go back, obviously Jim Benning didn't want to do so. Mark my words, Benning signs Hamhuis to an extension at a good $ + term that works for both parties within the next couple weeks. - Codes1087
Everyone and their brother thought Hamhuis would re-sign in Vancouver anyway. Why not rent him to Dallas or Chicago for a few months and get an asset or two instead of sitting on your hands? Makes zero sense. |

Hamhuis being 33 will definitely affect his term. Given his recent deal of a 4.5 million cap, I don't think it would be unreasonable to offer him 3 x 3.25 - 4 mill. I really want to see Hamhuis back in the Canucks top 4 for the next few years. It totally would have been nice to see Hamhuis win a cup, get a good fetch of picks, and re-sign him in the summer but we need to stop sulking and get over it. |

I am not Benning, I am not sure how you want me to answer that?
The pieces coming back were obviously not what they liked. |

All those players are older than Hamhuis. They got more money and nice term.
Unless he really wants to stay, he can command a fat contract. And Benning is great at that. |
