You are bang on about we overvalue our players. I know no one would want Vrbata. We need to change our roster. We have a bad roster with unattractive players.

I am sure we could have at least gotten a seventh for Bartowski or Weber.

I wouldn't sign Hamhuis though and I would also try to upgrade on Edler. Hansen should be also on the trade list this year.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the fan base in Vancouver isn't capable of handling the ups and downs of the franchise. I said yesterday that I didn't think JB was going to be able to move Vrbata or Hamhuis and that he was likely getting low balled. What would be the point of moving either of them for low picks? Think people, if JB was willing to dump prime assets for trash, when some people on this board (the anti-Benningites) already think he loses every trade, how much worse does that make him? Yes it's disappointing, but ultimately, pointless. We didn't take on salary, we didn't dump any prospects, and we kept all our picks. There's a good chance that even though we didn't do any deadline deals of significance, JB will do most of it at the draft. He might even be able to trade negotiating rights for something for Hamhuis and Vrbata. The point is, half of you sound like children crying because mommy and daddy didn't get you ice-cream, or wouldn't let you play XBOX instead of doing homework.

Vrbata is garbage this year and has been a dyck with his attitude. I hope they bring up Grenier and see what he does in Vrbatas spot . Let Vrbata be a healthy scratch.

I'm starting to think Benning decided that this deadline was where he was going to take a stand on his trade reputation. Either get full value or take nothing at all.

To be fair, Hamhuis and Vrbata are relatively new to the league. Benning should have pieced together some of their "best" YouTube highlights and done a presentation to teams around the league so they understand our assets better. #fireBenning

No other way to argue in a hockey forum with the fans of the opposing players. I don't buy into fancy stats but if fry is going to say something stupid, he needs to know it will be met with an argument

I appreciate your POV but I disagree. I'd rather not help a team out. Anything below a 2nd round pick and I'd say go (frank) yourselves. It would be unwise for Benning to dump hammer for a 4th. He was wise to stand his ground in my opinion. If we just have a firesale on assets people will continue to lowball the organization

Wouldn't ever call vrbata a core player.
He was a 2yr UFA signing n had an expiry date.
His play cost us this year with us having less goals n another playoff spot.
Whether we didn't want a 1 n done is irrelevant when he didn't earn his 5m
this season. The fact all the kids n Hansen bumped him down is what cost us
getting any return for him before it can be laid at JB's feet.

Pretty sure Benning just said we could of gotten a 3rd but that felt Hamhuis has more value to this team right now.

I'm not going to pretend that I wouldn't of ripped Benning if that was the deal, but it certainly sounds like he turned down a last minute deal.

He also confirmed that Dallas contacted them prior to making a deal with Calgary and that Canucks were not the ones who turned it down. That sounds like Benning counter offered but Dallas balked and decided to go with Russell instead.
