Treliving had no problem selling a worse player in Russell :p - Crazybagoham
It helps when Dallas wants the player. |

So what's the over/under for the number of pages on this post before it breaks 250?
- allsports
It's going up quick. Carol needs to save us and write a new blog about the draft and who the Canucks should focus on drafting at certain slots. |

I appreciate your POV but I disagree. I'd rather not help a team out. Anything below a 2nd round pick and I'd say go (frank) yourselves. It would be unwise for Benning to dump hammer for a 4th. He was wise to stand his ground in my opinion. If we just have a firesale on assets people will continue to lowball the organization - CanuckDon
That's a really good point and i tend to agree, but a GM putting his personal pride before the possibility of making the team a little bit better can be quite suspect.
That said, it could create a real dangerous precedent where others teams low-ball the poop out of him in the future. who knows.
At this point though, we can confidently say that we are one of the select few in the league that actually got worse without making a single move. |

Pretty sure Benning just said we could of gotten a 3rd but that felt Hamhuis has more value to this team right now.
I'm not going to pretend that I wouldn't of ripped Benning if that was the deal, but it certainly sounds like he turned down a last minute deal.
He also confirmed that Dallas contacted them prior to making a deal with Calgary and that Canucks were not the ones who turned it down. That sounds like Benning counter offered but Dallas balked and decided to go with Russell instead. - belcherbd
I wouldnt be surprised if Dallas called and said this is what we are going to send them for Russell, and JB asked for more than that package, so Dallas said Russell should be good enough for this price and took the deal. Hindsight the deal Calgary got wouldve been nice, but I wouldnt blame JB for trying to get more for Hamhuis than Russell got |

I can understand that, if true then he took a risk and lost out.
Sh!t happens and I'm not going to suggest Benning is an idiot because it didn't work out but at the end of the day, he is responsible for those decisions. |

Somewhat proof Nill was playing JB IMO
If a 3rd n thats not much if Hammer helps our youth over the last 20 games is better for their development n mentoring. That has true value for us. |

In the end your gm got a stellar haul for Russell. Hamhuis was out a while with a broken face but has been superb since his return - Codes1087
This could turn out to be a good thing if other GM's don't think they can just wait out Benning til the last second and low ball him ... |

One very strong point for JB is nobody is gonna out work him or put in the time he does being hands on scouring for talent or scouting our players top to bottom.
That i believe is what we know we were getting n he has not disappointed. |

Not sure what happened, but I have sent a PM to CaptEO to see if he can undo the lock down.
I might have inadvertently pressed a wrong button while responding to Carol |

There's the draft lottery, the Oilers always seem to like it. |
