Bruins say they are keeping Eriksson.
Now hopefully some people call about McGinn. |

Only a fraction of the money comes off the books, I believe. - Slump Buster
About 1 Million. It's smarter than buying out in the long run though. But not pressing for this year. |

It doesn't matter because we have huge cap room. I just don't want to watch him "play" any longer. Just stash the man. - Khmylev
I don't disagree - I just wanted to point out that it might be better to just buy him out. |

Still dont believe theyd be dumb enough to make that deal for a pending ufa. - Sabresfan-365
if he hits july 1st he puts on a leaf jersey. Maybe Timmy knows something we don't and knows he has to acquire his rights and get him signed before he hits that date. Now it depends what else would be coming with Stamkos. Like i mentioned earlier if we have a good idea that he would sign here i could see us perhaps doing and sign and trade or acquiring his rights to move back in the first round in this years draft. Would you rather have a Laine, Puluarvi or stamkos and a late 1st. |

McGinn to Rangers? - hawk33
That was my thoughts
With maybe Krieder coming back this way?
He's supposedly available
I'm sure we'd have to eat salary & add a pick though |

is it just me or has this deadline day been pretty poop?
The days leading up werent too bad... but the actual deadline has sucked so far. |

It's still dead weight. No one wants Franson. Larrson you'll get a 6th for. Who cares that we didn't? Foligno you'll get a 5th? Are you mad we didn't get a 5th and a 6th? Are they really taking up that much space that Foligno, Larsson, and Franson are stopping us from doing anything? - Zschalberg
YES. We can try and get creative with bringing in some goal scorers and defensive defenceman. Less contracts and roster space. I'd take anything for any of those 3 |

Were all going to be moved.
Now, we are holding on to them to trade for Stamkos? - ImThatGuy
Yeah - this!! Holding on to them so we can trade them all and our lottery pick for Stamkos, an UFA - ha!!

He actually said that's who they're trying to move. Not saying he has anything, just saying that was the quote as I remember it |

Also doesn't make sense to me
Again, low value for 28
And Franson has a year left. Most teams aren't gonna want that contract. I think we move 46 at next year's deadline - jdfitz77
I mean what do you want him to do? Make stuff up? He tells us what he knows, its beyond the comprehension for mental midgets such as ourselves.
He listed 6 people that were going to get traded, the only official trade the sabres made wasn't on that list. |

Not for the cap it won't. Keep him stashed for cap flexibility.

Wave Moulson, nobody claims, stash in AHL, so what about money (Pegula). - Khmylev
It's not the cash, it's the money on the cap. You can only stash $950K in the minors so we'd have $4M+ of dead money. That's not ideal. The whole thing isn't ideal, but it is what it is, there's no fix short of a miracle trade. |

If his top team of interest is toronto then it doesn't matter who acquires his rights. he's in total control and there will be no shortage of interest. |

It would be better than buying him out though. Buying him out extends his hit, and its not that big of a difference compared to waiving him.
However, if he has a NMC, can he be waived? |

Hence why i said there would have to be evidence that we are amongst his final choices and that he has a desire to play here. We could acquire his rights even for prospects who knows. |

I do, if it's new and not something that's either blatantly obvious or we've heard about 427 times before.
Hey guys, Sabres will be in on Stamkos! |

Then idk what to tell you man. NHL 16 doesn't even let you trade garbage for anything. You think you're going to take 3 throw away pieces on the 29th team in the league and get goal scoring or a defensman. Not how things work. Less contracts, because that's limiting us from anything at all. a 5th and a 6th are just $1 scratch offs. If we got them, cool but I won't care that we didn't. |
