I cant recall a team ever posting two trades after the deadline. But I could be wrong

McGinn traded for 2016 3rd round pick which could turn into a 2017 2nd without having to take un another contract it seems. Even if they retained half of McGinns his salary off the books for next season. Well done. Hopefully top 5 pick to come and this is a successful season in my books.

I always thought the point to this season was...

1) learn Bylsma's season
2) young guys developing & learning how to be NHLers
3) all these new guys finding chemistry & seeing who plays well with who

The last 20 games are just like the 1st 60 for me

I NEVER expected we be anywhere near a playoff team
Next year we start climbing up the standings

He tried to make moves with all those 2nd rounders a couple drafts ago & couldn't find a taker

I'm sure he'll dangle them out there though

Today went as about i figured for the sabres. I thought maybe johnson would be moved, but there wasnt many landing spots for him and the ones there were filled up.

Its all about that top pick now, and hopefully by this time next year maybe we are buyers. Even though with darcy it was usually disappointing, i miss that feeling of wondering/hoping we landed a nice piece gearing up for a run.

I'm kind of glad we didn't move Johnson. Would like to keep him around for next year for a relatively cheap price. Let Ullmark stay in ROC and play every night. And have a steady backup in Johnson. Just as long as Lehner doesn't miss half the season again...
