Some would say that you have fought the good fight....
(we've all tried to stand up for Girgensons here that he is a needed piece... we have all been thrown to the wolves.... if his value is high and it gets a legit top 6 winger then i'll cry but I can see the business side of it) - JVince11
And it's not, and he won't, so keep him and let's move on. |

Agreed.
I am not just giving him away but if the right deal is there I would have to listen.
I am not going all Matt Coller here and saying I wouldn't trade Girgensons straight up for the #1 pick...still cant believe he said that - Stripes77
yea if that were the case i would pack his bags and pay for his cab |

I just don't see how trading a piece you know you have for an unknown is solid business practice. If you hit gold then good for you, but Murray is throwing a lot of crap on the wall trying to see what sticks. I think it's more of a "not his guy" kinda thing which is bush league to me. Risto isn't "your guy" either, you gonna run him too?

The really hilarious thing is that this post is way, way funnier as a mock than it was when it actually happened.
I actually got a little gooseflesh when I read this post the first time. - Der Kaiser

I like Zemgus. I like Drouin. Drouin has potential to be a 2nd liner. Girgensons is a 3rd. So I make the deal. But it's not enough to get it done, it would cost more. How much is more? Too much most likely. No thanks. - Zschalberg
If that is all Drouin is viewed as now then FRANK him... That's ENNIS!

I think i've been more or less saying this, except the straight up part, I wouldn't even do that, but that puts me in the minority here and I get it.

Keep the whole "not his guy" and "doesn't play a system" thing at a minimum. That is one guy's opinion on this board. Its not like it was TM saying it in an interview or anything like that.
It is just one guy trying to say something to give his "rumors" more credibility as legitimate.
Drouin... Had an uncle that lived in West Seneca when growing up... he LOVES the area and wants to play for Buffalo.
See i can do it too and I don't need an alternate account to say it. |

This is a nice post. Ennis is our x-factor next year. We could have a goal scorer that has speed and can dish without having to pay anything. I wouldn't be surprised if Murray stands pat and says we have that guy waiting to come back.
That is, assuming he comes back the same player he was last year. |

I think people misunderstand the difference between talent and value to your team. Talent makes $$$ but value wins games (so does talent but I think you get the point). Is 28 as your 3rd line center more valuable than drouin as MAYBE in your top 6 scoring more than 6 goals a year? I think so.

I am more so baffled that people want to trade assests and weaken our bottom 6 and prospects to acquire a player like Drouin...
When we are in line to hopefully get Matthews/Laine/Puljujarvi who are all rated better than Drouin currently.
ahhhh duhhhhhhhhhhhh we have a top 6 possibly top line forward in front of us for free. |

But he really is clearing the deck of guys here before him. Who makes ahl trades like he just did? I think there is a "not his guy" component to GMTM's thinking.

Like you said you know what we have with girgensons.. if you can get Jonathan Drouin for him you do it you do remember Nathan MacKinnon were a great tandem
people thought Jonathan Drouin was not that good because you He was with him as soon as he got injured he went on a scoring streak for the ages
As you can see Jack needs someone that can finish the job he needs a linemate fast ,creative, so would you rather waste the years of Jack with bum players or would you rather try to trade for a potential elite Winger? - gerbe75pts
Jack has played with Kane and Reinhart for good portions of this year. Not exactly bums. I don't agree with that.
Elite winger... like... Matthews/Laine/Puljujarvi who are all just as good and cost NO ASSETS unlike Drouin you mean?? |

I'd rather build a team the right way, with talent and skill up and down the lineup, and not like it's a fantasy hockey team.

TM signed Akeson & Varone ot deals this summer I believe. Akeson was a leading AHL goal scorer last season. |

The 6 goals a year part is the only part the isn't needed. He'd score more with more time and better players. |

Yup. Winger at the draft. Ennis in the other top 6 spot. If we're trading it's for defense. This is the forward group we're going to run with. Try to enjoy them. |
