I don't really doubt what he's saying...
Just the extent of it

Like when he said we were trading Ennis & Foligno
Didn't actually mean we were shopping them, but probably just that we would trade them for the right deal

With the Stamkos case...
What I take from what he's saying is that we're going "all in" after him

- jdfitz77

Doubt what? That we want Stamkos? What team wouldnt want Stamkos? As for the other "info" its stuff others said before here, or cryptic nothingness.

We traded a 4th for the rights to Ehrhoff and Stamkos is in a much higher class than Ehrhoff was. You definitely trade for his rights to get exclusive time with him to work out a deal. If you can't sign him, trade his rights again to the next suitor. That's how Ehrhoff came here. I don't think this year's 1st, but anything else is worth it. Even next year's 1st.

Can there be a conditional on the 1st like if he signs and if he doesn't it becomes a third

Thanks
I'm halfway through

Even if we don't get Stamkos, we're on the right track & should at least contend for a playoff spot

Do u have any idea if either of the Fins can come over next year, or do they have commitments that would keep them in Finland?
I can't seem to find any info

As riveting as that conversation was, i cant take it seriously.

With my personal opinion of it being completely asinine to trade a top 5 pick for negotiating rights aside, I would think part of the intrigue for stamkos to sign here would be the addition of that pick or whatever it could turn into to what we already have.

Not a huge fan of the monster contract he is going to command unless he returns to pre-injury form, but i do hope it happens and i do believe the people saying we have a real shot at him. However to do something so foolish with a very large chance of getting burned would make me question pegula in a big big way. Everyone would be flaming murray but i would absolutely believe that type of decision would come from above his head.

I dont think murray is in for career suicide if it were to backfire.

I'm thinking it's not the injury that's hurt his production so much as the mediocre talent he's been playing with

Stamkos will (presumably) get to play with Eichel...
I bet he goes right back to tearing it up if he were to sign here

Draft a Finn, sign Stamkos.

Finn-Stamkos-Eichel
Kane-ROR-Reinhart
Foligno-Larsson-Girgensons-Ennis

Players on that 3rd line are gonna have to be shipped out for defense help I'd presume but it's starting to look mighty good.

if that happened, you put all your eggs in a trade for that 1 d man, or sign yandle and use picks to build your prospect pool

Yeah, at that point it's all in before contracts start expiring. Kane can go at the end if his contract, I generally like his game but probably not at the price tag he wants.

Could very well be the case.

I will not be happy at all if we trade our first round pick to negotiate with him. I dont care about making a splash at the draft. I care about the betterment of the team and it doesnt begin and end with stamkos. If he wants to come here he will, and i want it to be in addition to our 1st round pick this year.

I would draft whoever we are lucky to take with our first round pick, and if we are able to sign him i would absolutely be willing to part with him for that Dman.

I would part with anyone not named eichel, oreilly, or risto to get a dman here if we are able to land stamkos.

Sign yandle while youre at it too
