Surprise surprise. We got to see what Linden and Benning are made of. Can't say I'm surprised on Vrbata. Yes, hamhuis would only go to a select few place. But it is a GMs job to understand his market. Lower your price tag. A 2nd and prospect , or a 2nd alone is better then nothing. He had 2 teams in for sure(that we know about) He clearly misplayed his hand. The arrogance he sits up there with and acts like he didn't (frank) up badly reminds of the guy who's job he took. And Linden should stick to PR stuff, it's pretty clear he's lost at his current position. I think it's fair to say Benning is a great scout but terrible at the bargaining table.

I agree, I think RNH is the most under appreciated guy on your roster and by far the best defender in the top-6. I think he's getting moved this off-season though(which is kind of ironic because he is pretty good at D and will likely improve). With regards to any other comparison's, what I'm talking about is defensive acumen, a 2nd line center. Horvat is better at the two-way job than McJesus and Draisitl for now but I'm sure they will get better, clearly they are far superior offensively. I think the future is very bright for your team, and should be as you've had so many 1st picks now it is disgusting.

We don't need the help of tank nation to defend Horvat. Once the Canucks realize that Horvat is a 2nd line center the sooner this team will get things turned around.

Id agree with that completely. However one of best FO guys was Linden, which we have access to. He was around 78% at times, esp in own zone. Love for him to school some of the centers. Makes you wonder why it hasnt happened yet. Just even for a day say 3 times a year.

I'm absolutely shocked that Benning couldn't get ANYTHING done today. I actually feel kinda sorry for the fan base, they deserve better.

It's like Benning doesn't know what to do. He's either apprehensive or overplays is hand only to have it blow up in his face... Very much like Gillis before him.

Not only did Vancouver not get trade anything for the future, but a number a very capable NHLers remain on the squad and the team will win a few more games than they probably should down the stretch, ultimately worsening their overall draft position.
