Clearly Aquaman is calling the shots, or Linden, Benning and Willie would be fired! - Grumpy13
My personal opinion is that Aquilini is involved, although I have no proof.
The scarier thought process for me is that they might all actually be on the same page. |

I don't laugh at the Oilers. It's terrifying watching a team get lottery pick after lottery pick and not improve. It scares me as a fan of a team that I rebuilding that it could fail that bad. - fiveandagame
Yeah dont ever follow our ways of doing a rebuild...its been brutal and painful and I want nothing to do with a 1st rounder this year at all...trade it for a top pairing RHD and get this poop show going in a better direction

We can't be sure of this. See Shinkaruk for Granlund.......time will tell. - golfingsince
That trade will be all forgotten as time goes by.
With Hudler gone n a spot open lets see what gives. |

Whatever you say
Clearly you don't know me very well at all. I frequent the Canucks' thread and have had a tonne of laughs and great conversations here.
"You wonder why your franchise is so bad right now" ... I think it's abundantly clear why the franchise is in the state it's in... It's called a clean slate... It's called a
r-e-b-u-i-l-d... And the majority of the fan base is happy with the management group and the direction they're going.
Let's be clear here, I came here to discuss the Canucks' deadline day, it was YOU who brought up the Leafs!
Try to keep up. - As_I_See_It
We have a lot of trash to remove. Can we interest you in Higgins and. Burrows for Gardiner . We will be willing to toss in the traditional second |

Anaheim has some real beauties of good young D.
Maybe nab a couple n fastrack the D corps.
A nice big package is possible. |

just looking forward to some lineup changes, too bad Cracknell is gone, but more opportunity to see others to showcase their skills. |

You clearly are the drama queen in this one also a drag queen too one would imagine with the kind of mental problems you have displayed here today. - mauryballstein
That's quite enough now, get back to talking hockey, and stop with the disparaging comments.
Thanks |

We should be in on Hamonic this summer and if we have to over pay then so be it....maybe talk to the Blues about Shattenkirk.....if we can somehow pull that off that takes us in a much better direction.....are you guys gearing up for Lucic or whats the plan in Nuck city?

That's who I wanted. - golfingsince
Truth be told I wanted Fleury
But yeah Nylander looks like he should have chosen 6th if redone today.

LA- Doughty
Chi- Toews/Kane
Pit- Crosby/malkin/fluery
Was- Ovechkin/Backstrom
Fla- Ekblad/Jagr/Barkov
TB- Hedman/Stamkos
While a team like Boston/Detroit might be exceptions, IMO the best teams have an elite anchor and usually said anchor comes in the top 5 range. There are exceptions. Again, this is just my opinion as we have never had a number 1. The Sedins have been our anchors, we all know where they were picked. - neem55
Fair enough...here's the problem as I see it: you're saying this at a time when the last 5 of the last 6 cups have been won by two teams...one of which had two top 5 ers...so kinda a gimmie argument, LA only had one. There are a) major exceptions as you've pointed out, b) plenty of teams that don't win with top-5 picks FLA, NYI, EDM and c) with the exception of Chicago, most of the Conn Smythes are being won by straight up by non-top 5ers - Williams, Keith, Thomas...
I think we can win without bottoming out - I like what Benning has done so far, but he needs to sign some defensemen...still can't believe he traded Garrison for a 2nd... |

Wow good one I have never heard that before...since thats never been said ill just say 5 cups and end it on that original note...honestly tho no troll attempts here but no playoffs for you guys this year....so at what point does Benning either commit to a playoff run or a rebuild? - RatedR80
is it only one or the other?
I want more choices.

Probably looking at giving two 2nds, same as the Polak deal. |

I won't freak out, I can assure you.
However, this IS a hockey discussion forum. Do you expect everyone to sit around and pat each other on the back and sing Kumbaya and pretend it's all good?
I think 90% of the hockey world would give Benning a failing grade for this deadline, what's wrong with discussing it? |

Sounds like solid targeting n lose some to go forward on D.
Not much sense to go for Lucic nor lots of interest bere really. |

Shinkaruk wasn't in demand. Benning: "we tried to get a D prospect, but Granlund was the best we could get."
That tells you a) they felt they needed to move him and b) other teams weren't that high on him. He could turn whatever his issues are around and become a steal, but he also might be about to bust out... |

I think he's a future #1C, and a good one.
To be able to have a chance at grabbing that at the 6th spot.......well you take the risk. |

I thought Cracknell was a great free agent signing for us. a good team guy, he will be missed.
Let's bring guys up from Utica and give them a long look. Sit Henrik for a stretch, if not the rest of the season.
It is just too bad Sutter is still out, we still haven't seen enough of him to figure out who should be on his wings or if he should be with the Sedins... |
