Luongo was under contract and the same thing actually happened as today,,, Gillis failed to move him at the TDL. Horrible example.... - boonerbuck
Really?
Pretty sure Lu got traded.....
Don't let your Gillis hate get it the way. |

I'm honestly surprised that Hamhuis wouldn't waive for any of the California teams. They have decent playoff projections and are relatively close to Vancouver. - flamminghead
He would have/did.
Basically said any Western conference contender team if the "deal made sense". |

He's a good fit with all of that youth. Dale will likely overpay but could very well get a Cup out of the deal. - golfingsince
This is a maybe I think. Gudbranson and Ekblad both need contracts don't they?
It would be a great fit for the pu$sycats though |

The Vancouver Canucks? - golfingsince
Well they are a team that likes to do nothing , so bringing back an old Dman that doesn't hit and doesn't score seems right up their alley.

Biggest losers a day where hardly any trades were made.... biggest losers because Benning didnt take the 3rd he was offered? Oh well.. so be it. I'm disappointed but this team isnt screed because they missed out on a 3rd.
No one wanted the players on "The List". - boonerbuck
Do you really think he was only offered a 3rd?

As I said I wished Hamhuis came out and said I'm staying it could have ended the BS.
Now the GM looks incompetent , it lets down the hopes of a fan base and we aren't the talk of the NHL for all the wrong reasons.
He didn't have to go anywhere . We don't have to sign him. I wish him luck with his new team - VANTEL
as long as we, the blog, are speculating, what if Hamhuis said yes, he'd waive, and then later changed his mind? Just got cold feet and JB, rather than throw him under the bus to the media, just said it didn't work out... |

Ekblad still has a year left. Gudbranson needs a new deal I think. I'm pretty sure they have plenty of space however. Barkov will need a new deal soon too. |

Oh, I remember.
I also remember Lu having an albatross of a contract, not an expiring deal. He still managed to secure 2 assets for him. |

The main problem with Hamhuis not being traded was that I was gona cheer for the team he went to. Ill go with the Preds in the west and caps in the east. |

Latest reports earlier this month were that it could decrease by as much as 4 million(probably not that much, but I'd be shocked if it increases based on that). - Nucker101
I believe the report of the cap going up was based off of the players raising the escrow a further 5%.
I could be wrong but I believe it is already at 16% so in other words the players might be forced to give up a fifth of their contracts in order for the cap to rise. At some point if this continues I imagine we will see another labour dispute. |

Missed out on a 3rd? When has the top rental defenseman available EVER go for just a 3rd at the deadline? This is further proving that our gm is incompetent. |

Meh, F Dan Hamhuis. Could have helped make the team better then come back in the off season. I hope he's shown the door and gets nothing besides a lowball offer from the Canucks |

4 years...? maybe 5. Either way, that will be a value contract by the end. Maybe even next year. |

There are several reports out there that he was offered a decent deal, by respected hockey insiders. I guess it's easier to just accept what Benning says though. |
