JB is an upgrade on MG. That's all i'll say. - VanHockeyGuy
Time will tell, and I still have some more leash to let JB run a bit more...
Different scenarios for different gm's at least, JB inherited a stale core with ntc's, I have no problem giving him more time to see where this goes.
Thank god the media isn't running the team. |

So agree that it was totally different at the same time a you argue that it's exactly the same. OK
- boonerbuck
Are you suggesting it's easier to move an albatross contract with term than it is an expiring value deal?
You're smarter than this. You should probably just drop it. |

Meh, F Dan Hamhuis. Could have helped make the team better then come back in the off season. I hope he's shown the door and gets nothing besides a lowball offer from the Canucks - RoloTahmasee
He waived for 2 teams, he sacrificed millions for that NMC. Look at from his side. I don't blame him at all. |

Ya zero blame for Dan, the fact that he even gave a few teams is enough. That post that Knight tossed up could actually have been what stopped the trade from happening. Its something that I never considered. |

Did you guys only want Hamhuis traded because hes set to be UFA? Or has his play fallen off? |

Agreed.
I wonder how many hockey fans work in unions? I know everything that mine negotiates takes concessions of some kind. You don't just give that up for the betterment of the company. |

It's fallen off some, but i'd be happy to take him back in the summer. He was easily the best defensive Dman available at the deadline. |

Both. He's still a solid #4 dman on a contender, I'd take him over Russell for this year. |

10 years ago . Sundin also told everyone weeks before I am not waiving. He didn't have everyone hanging on to the last minute - VANTEL
Thats a privelege of an NTC like or not its up to the player.
Hamhuis has no obligation to say or do anything.
Its a private matter n we can want or demand all we like. |

Missed out on a 3rd? When has the top rental defenseman available EVER go for just a 3rd at the deadline? This is further proving that our gm is incompetent. - hertzman
Two teams to work with? Wow... lets compare and judge this situation to all the other top rental defense man in the past and totally ignore the NTC and being limited to two teams.
Of course he got low balled. There were more D available.... and Dallas liked Russel better. They did a late gamble hoping they could hose the GM and he passed. Personally I would take the 3rd but I'm not going to act out this drama that JB refused these great offers because he thought letting Hammer walk was much better for the rebuild.

Nill might've wanted he can sign long-term. Maybe durability concerns with Hamhuis. He's a good GM, but he's not immune to making mistakes(Hemsky, Niemi, Oduya, etc). |

True.
As much as I didn't like the Miller signing, I don't think he is the reason we aren't in the playoffs. Vrbata on the other hand, from having an all star calibre season to missing in action... player without a role... maybe we can blame that on WD? or JB for not selling high?
I must admit though, I am shocked that Toronto was able to move so many pieces from a team that was tanking. Is that Eastern bias or just good asset managment? Or is it too early to tell, have to wait to see what they do with their picks and cap space?
