Two teams to work with? Wow... lets compare and judge this situation to all the other top rental defense man in the past and totally ignore the NTC and being limited to two teams.

Of course he got low balled. There were more D available.... and Dallas liked Russel better. They did a late gamble hoping they could hose the GM and he passed. Personally I would take the 3rd but I'm not going to act out this drama that JB refused these great offers because he thought letting Hammer walk was much better for the rebuild.

Im not unionized but I would still never do anything for my company with out mutual benefit coming my way.

It's kind of funny. Think of when Sundin never waived......then ask any Leaf fan if they'd move to Edmonton for the same money and no guarantee of a job in a couple of months.

True.

As much as I didn't like the Miller signing, I don't think he is the reason we aren't in the playoffs. Vrbata on the other hand, from having an all star calibre season to missing in action... player without a role... maybe we can blame that on WD? or JB for not selling high?

I must admit though, I am shocked that Toronto was able to move so many pieces from a team that was tanking. Is that Eastern bias or just good asset managment? Or is it too early to tell, have to wait to see what they do with their picks and cap space?

We ended up keeping half of our UFA's. The big thing was getting out from under clarkson, kessel and phaneuf contracts.

At this point im not sure Lou, Dubas, Hunter can do any wrong.

We finally got to see our young guys with the big club tonight, we're all over the top hyped in our thread haha

Thats a privelege of an NTC like or not its up to the player.
Hamhuis has no obligation to say or do anything.
Its a private matter n we can want or demand all we like.

Never thought I'd envy the Leafs, but so far they're doing a good job of rebuilding. We'll see if they can execute the drafting and developing part. But their asset management has been great.

I hope they have an extended honeymoon, sooner or later though, public opinion will change with a questionable move or some slip up and media/fans will start the fire___ at your rink.

Excuse me? I'm extremely disappointed right now. I've been anticipating a trade involving Hammer giving us a boost to the rebuild. I feel totally let down. I'm not going to exaggerate the poop out of everything to serve some bandwagon smear campaign though. There's enough to be disappointed in without doing that.

People wonder why Van fans burn this town down over hockey... take a look at the attitude in here... our fans are the best

TB has Johnson, Palat and Hedman to sign next summer. New plan: let the rebuild begin, ship/buyout contracts and clear space for Hedman and offer him Subban money

So I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the honeymoon with our new management group is officially over?

I think when the smoke clears we will discover two things...

1. The rebuild started months ago. Today would have been nice to improve upon that but it does not always work out.
2. Our ownership is a problem.

Well.... one thing in their favour.... today they cannot be accused of losing in a trade.

TB will be in tough to resign all of those players especially with stamkos so they could be a team shipping out players on the cheap if the cap drops. Or even just letting guys walk as UFAs now is good time to have cap space.

(frank) that. Save the money and picks and offer sheet McDavid to the max when he comes up. Amazingly, the cap could still (frank) them over at that point. They have 7 players under contract for over $35 million.

I just hope that in the final games of the season, Edmonton overtakes us with a goal by Crackers and assisted by Kassian... somehow Sbisa and Vey will cough up the puck.

2nd pick!!!!!

Callahan has turned out to be a bad contract, it will be interesting how it plays out. Next TDL will be big for them, or maybe just this offseason. If they resign Stammer, seems to hamstring resigning Hedman a bit. Hard to say though, but Hedman is the UFA/biggest piece of the bunch IMO. Yzerman has got some wheeling and dealing to do.

You do "the dreaded double offer" ---- you offer both McDavid and "Person B" huge offers knowing that they cannot cover both or totally screw their cap.

Would prefer Hedman over Stamkos myself.
