Hedman's a really good (thanks willie) player and all but McDavid is a generational talent.

I will try to not come off as a troll but do you guys really think you will sign McDavid when he is an RFA? like we wont already have him resigned by then? Just curious about the logic is all since it will be a while before that step even happens

The wrinkles you get from sitting in the bath too long does not count as maturity

I for one definitely do not think that this will/could happen.

just going to throw one theory out there. Dan gave the Canucks the okay to deal him, but if they did they would have to reward him July 1st with a big contract and term. Benning made the assessment that the return in any trade wasn't enough if he was going to have to reward hamhuis. Canucks don't owe hamhuis anything now and should try to re-sign him at a discount and short term.... Will be interesting to see what happens

We can sign them both!
- mauryballstein

That would be ideal, but I doubt we get either.

Neither can I unless he gets put off with being surrounded by 1st overall picks and constant losing.

He may become RFA if the Oilers continue to lose. Maybe he doesn't like Edmonton? Wouldn't be the first person.

I'm just saying, if there's one guy i'd give up four 1st round picks for it would be him.

Is that Botchford? I swear he's always slipping and sliding in a puddle of lube on his chair in interviews.

Why the hell can't teams below the canucks win the odd bloody game, Toronto with their star studded prospects, Calgary with the coach of the year... Arizona come on...how is Vancouver to compete in the losing department if those bastards can't win the odd game
- Makita

Still closer to the playoffs than last place? It's going to be harder to drop with Hamhuis in our lineup.

You do "the dreaded double offer" ---- you offer both McDavid and "Person B" huge offers knowing that they cannot cover both or totally screw their cap.
- Beatle_john

Mcdavid and nurse will both be rfa's at the same time.....

I agree wit hthis in principle, but I just think there is no way Oilers mismanage this bad. Chiarelli has shown in the past an abilit yto make bold moves, RNH is out this summer, in comes d... playoffs next year

If this team continues to suck for that long then sure because who wants that garbage? Im surprised Hall hasent asked out yet....I will agree tho that its worth paying that price....with all that said I think we make some deals for help on our blueline and we might actually move forward for a change

I don't follow...

I was agreeing to the potential double offer sheet we couldn't match.

Unless you mean getting stuck with nurse when we choose Connor?

According to a highly placed Stars source, the Stars and Canucks had a deal in place. It wasn’t exactly the same as the trade that eventually sent Calgary’s Kris Russell to Dallas but it was “similar.”

The deal was taken to Canucks ownership. Ownership requested more. The Stars rejected that request and made the trade with the Flames.

Dallas then came back to the Canucks with a lesser offer for Hamhuis — believed to be a draft pick in 2017 — but were turned down.

“They lost the deal,” the source said. “The deal Calgary got was pretty much available to Vancouver.”

I know it's Vancouver but f*ck me if this has any truth

There are going to be some really big decisions for Edmonton in the near future. $35 million for 7 players in a few years with some other big names needing to cash in. I guess it's the negative part of drafting so high for so long.

effin rights I deserve it!!

i watched the bulk of the 7 game losing streak we just endured. Every game was like "Insert incredibly painful experience here"

We need to turn this garbage fire around

Yeah, getting stuck with Nurse instead of Connor.

I'm sure he'd cost less but several 1sts regardless if the idea is to stretch the Oil to begin with.
