Judging by JB's reaction to questions today, i don't think he was simply offered a draft pick from Dallas when they 'circled back'

I get the sense that he was offerred something like a pick in 2018, plus something like Hemskey (which would saddle the team next year). That's my based on nuthin guess.

I think Vancouver got slammed today. Happens.

I hope they learn from it and continue to grow and learn how to trade players in teh future.

No point comparing Holland or Lou to TL and JB. That's like comparing Jagr to Bo Horvat.

you are correct there, I agree. These trades DO take weeks sometimes as well.

Another thing that hasnt been pointed out is that perhaps management feels after a couple of wins with better play than we've seen in a while that its worth taking a run at making playoffs still. Despite the odds perhaps they know something we dont.

That would be funny.

I hope we shut down the vets at this stage.
The Sedins to let them heal.
Vrbata out of spite.
Hammer to spend time with his family.
Edler to heal (so he can be flipped in the offseason).
Burrows to get in shape for next year and regain some speed.

Bring up the youth. Insert Gaunce, Kennins, Subban, etc.

I seriously doubt that factored into anything.

I just read 3 of the province stories. Not surprisingly, there is a tiny mention of JB side of the story and then paragraph after paragraph quoting a unnamed source close to Dallas, being reported by a unnamed media member that they dont even credit.... it it goes on and on... and like a wave it rips through the media and fans think that represents more smoke than a single unnamed source.... even though it's still just a single unnamed source.

Although it would be glorious if not statistically improbable.
The Canucks go on a run, make the playoffs and JB still has that surprised look on his face.

Kennins was on the garbage list remember. Dont think he'll be on team.

Personally Id like to see the canucks hire some specialists to come do some workshops for these guys. Stuff like FO's, speedskating, forechecking.
Malhotras name comes to mind for FOs.

That would be accepted as well as the TDL... dropping out of reach of the top 15 picks

Silver lining is the kids getting on a late season run and playoff experience.

I was referring to the press interview.
JB says something like Dallas had an offer on the table, but chose to go another direction (ie with Calgary and Russel).
A reporter later asked if Dallas presented an offer later for Hamhuis and JB says something to the effect of it wasn't a deal that made sense.

I interpreted that as Dallas offerred a deal for Hamhuis that included a pick plus taking back salary or something. I think if it was just a straight up pick, a deal would have been done....and we'd be blasting him for not doing better.

Most of the young guys do some kind of clinics etc in the summer. Often they join up with other friends from their old junior team and go together.

I'm ok with replacing garbage with younger garbage that could use a longer look at this stage.

Coaching/specialists can wait.

they believe what they WISH to believe.
Makes you wonder. Are people becoming addicted to negativity, whining and complaining?

Becoming?

From here on in, everyone will bemoan any win by the team, as it bumps the team down the draft places.

When we don't 'win' the draft lotto, people will complain that the draft is rigged.

Then, half the fan base will chastise JB for picking the wrong player.

I know what you said. I'm throwing in how the media gives Benning 45 words vrs 25k words on unnamed unnames... why would a suggestion of JB having to take a bad contract to score a 3rd come out... they are not interested in first hand accounts anyways...

The Botchford story was his usual. How come this guy hasnt been exposed as a fraud yet. It's always him going on the loudest about ownership always meddling.... the guys around him who have been here fore years if not decades longer speculate this sometimes but Botchford without ever reporting anything new on it makes this accusation over and over after every event this team goes through... he's a fkn hack. Put up or shut up for once. Sad thing is,,, the chain reaction from other media sources re-quoting and re-tweets turns this into "all that smoke". Since Gillis got fired... there has been no new evidence revealed on this... but he keeps stepping it up. Look at the traction it gets... why would he not do this. He has no other talent and is a fraud as a reporter.

Maybe. It's contagious.

The part where people are concerned, upset and just wanting to discuss it is not the same as the people who are arming themselves with nonsense,,, wont reason, and worse,,, show up celebrating that we had a very bad TDL and are beating their chest in victory. That group is pathetic.

This.

I was actually thinking when all this media whirlwind was going on over the past few days...Why is all this information public?

Why are we aware of if JB asked Hamhuis to waive, what teams he waived to, what they offerred/didn't offer, etc.??

It only makes things worse and a veil of secrecy/silence would serve this team/fanbase much better.

Do other teams/fans/local media have the same policy of disclosing all this stuff?
Why did JB release all those names of scrubs that he wanted the world to know was available?
Why does he answer the media the way he does and subject himself to our insecurities??

Seems amateurish.

I heard JB in interview say that the amount offered in the 2nd offer wasnt worth losing hamhius for. So he values him being here. We are clearly better with him than without and that losing streak wo him proves that.
I dont believe in tanking at all as it destroys team culture. Not worth it.

We have lots of time till the draft as well.

oh youre on your game today bro. Youre damn right.
I think its expected to be a hot ticket item in canada. Management want to have a good relationship with the media.

But youre right some things are just better kept quiet. Esp in fan bases like this 1.
It should be selected on what you talk about and what you dont.

Its like what I posted earier...why does hammer tell the whole world about resigning with canucks? that right there screwed up any return greatly. Management should just tell him to shut up till its over.

I'm starting to think Benning decided that this deadline was where he was going to take a stand on his trade reputation. Either get full value or take nothing at all.

Way to go Jim!!

You sure showed everyone.
- golfingsince

this is what i was thinking... Dallas probably thought we can get both by giving Cgy full value and giving the Nux scraps cuz they'll take anything...

but trader Jim said f* that noise biatches... either you play ball or f* off...

now people will know what the deal is.... especially when JB signs hammer to a one year deal for 3.5 and shops him at the deadline again.

remember Hammer missed a tonne of time cuz of his injury. will come back refreshed next season.

you guys are right... the degenerates of society are making themselves known. it's only a matter of time until societal collapse as we know it today and a much more vicious world appears....

better to arm yourselves and your families now, rather than later...

100% agree. I hate botchford and all the negativity on TEAM 1040... I bet they were whinging and complaining when the Canucks set the standard by any team to date in the regular season with their epic performance in 2011 winning the regular season championship.
