its cause you only show up to stir poop up. You are probably the in the top 4 for notorious trolls who come into the Canucks forums. Along with Domi, Aardvark, and senscupsnocups. I would probably rank you right behind the 2 leafs trolls and infront of senscups only because he is banned. - Codes1087

Only once have I ever came into a Canucks thread with the intent of stirring poop up, and that was after you all jumped all over me for poopting on the Sutter trade. |

It's a catch 22 don't trade him and be blamed by your fan base or trade him for a 5th and be ridiculed by the likes of you. - A_SteamingLombardi
Let me get this right, prominent media members suggesting that there was a deal on the table that was turned down by either mgmt or ownership is all lies but taking one poster's suggestion that a 5th is what was offered as the deal is the truth?

The people who choose to believe that a 4th was the best offer for Dan Hamhuis by the 3 teams he'd waive for the they're just as delusional as they claim others are being.
Kris Russell and Eric Staal are having bad seasons by their standards, just read their former team's message boards from even before they were traded. Roman Polak was a guy that the Blues no longer wanted on their bottom pairing not too long ago. Mike Weber was the Sabres version of Sbisa/Bartkowski. |

No it is not. You have come in here stirring the pot every single move Benning has made. I will say that I have not seen you around after the Etem/Granlund trade but prior, you are known to use as the Carolina Troll. It doesn't surprise me you enter with a "you guys ok?" comment because it is super fitting and just helps in my case that you are trolling. |

I still don't think it was a great trade, but by no means did it turn out to be as lopsided as I thought it was. |

Yes, the whole notion that something is better than nothing doesn't work for me. We still have the rights to an asset and teams now know that Benning will stand firm if need be (if that's what happened). Sign him or deal his rights pre-draft. People should remember how pathetic the UFA D class is this summer. We may get s decent pick yet - CanuckDon
Agree on most parts up until the draft part. Why would we get anything at all for Hammer at the draft just a bit before end of contract with no PO hockey to be played?
and yes...we have seen JB walk away from deals before just out of principal and fans roasted him on it. Bieksa to sharks is an example. He took slightly less from another team (ducks) just not to deal w Wilson anymore. Its a statement. Good on him.
When it comes to fan reaction I dont think this has much to do with hammer though. Fans want activity period. Gives people creative stuff to do. People would have been happy if hammer had have stayed and garbage moved out. Then they can get out their paper and pencil and ponder what can be done with that cap space / roster spot. |

i'll agree with that.
i don't think that anyone (well anyone being honest with themselves) can completely absolve benning in this debacle.
but anyone who has been in high level negotiations (doesn't even have to be high level) knows that there a number of moving parts. things are fluid and the bottom can drop out at any time.
benning was trying to maximize value and the house of cards fell. there is "blame" for him but realize that hardly anyone (being honest) would just take the "best deal at the deadline."
after negotiating weeks and maybe months to have the offer drop at the last minute is a kick in the nuts. he tried to get it back to reasonable and failed.
i put some blame on him but i also acknowledge that i would most likely act similarly in that position. would i put myself in that position is the question?
my point is this: benning deserves some blame but let's put it in perspective. he was going to get crucified either way. either "russel got this and you only got that for hamhuis?" or "why didn't you take whatever was on the table?" |

That was because I had to give up on backreading due to the 200+ multi-paragraph posts, some of which from people who appeared to be absolutely livid. |

I think the 4rth or 3rd was the last minute offer that may have included cap coming back.... |
