Only once have I ever came into a Canucks thread with the intent of stirring poop up, and that was after you all jumped all over me for poopting on the Sutter trade. - BINGO!
So only once have you deliberately posted nonsense? So all the other nonsensical posts from you have just been stupidity? Tell us something we dont already know |

i'll agree with that.
i don't think that anyone (well anyone being honest with themselves) can completely absolve benning in this debacle.
but anyone who has been in high level negotiations (doesn't even have to be high level) knows that there a number of moving parts. things are fluid and the bottom can drop out at any time.
benning was trying to maximize value and the house of cards fell. there is "blame" for him but realize that hardly anyone (being honest) would just take the "best deal at the deadline."
after negotiating weeks and maybe months to have the offer drop at the last minute is a kick in the nuts. he tried to get it back to reasonable and failed.
i put some blame on him but i also acknowledge that i would most likely act similarly in that position. would i put myself in that position is the question?
my point is this: benning deserves some blame but let's put it in perspective. he was going to get crucified either way. either "russel got this and you only got that for hamhuis?" or "why didn't you take whatever was on the table?" - RealityChecker
That's fair. My question though is this:
Would you rather take a mediocre at best pick and the backlash, or just the backlash? Dale Tallon swallowed his pride and took a 6th rounder for Pirri (I know, different situation, but still.) |

As soon as Nill acquired Russel Benning was hooped. Beforehand, I believe he just overplayed his cards. |

Since when is being critical of a team's moves or lack thereof considered trolling?
If so, you're all trolls. - golfingsince
when it's not your team, and its excessive comments to rile up the opposing fanbase, or to only showup to make snarky comments regarding past/current transactions regardless of the lack of power the fanbase has over ANY move, is probably along the lines of trolling. Didn't think I would ever have to explain to someone what Trolling was.... |

It's nice that he actually played hardball for once, I'm proud of him for that. It sucks that it backfired on him though since there were obviously more sellers than buyers so the teams who sold first got the best deals. And of course who knows what ownership did yesterday, maybe they stopped Benning from making a deal that wasn't as good as the deals that got made earlier and didn't want to give Dallas a great deal.
Sucks that now that this team is selling, it's a buyer's market and back during the contending years teams were bidding for for Zenon Konopka, Paul Gaustad and Tim Gleason. |

There are only 3 types of people here, trolls, rational hockey minds and whiny drama queens contemplating suicide.
Your criticism of this teams current mgmt group makes you either a troll or a drama queen.
The team you follow makes it impossible for you to be a rational hockey mind but also scratches you off the drama queen list.
Troll it is. |

Yeah, I agree. Tough break and some bad luck. Calgary was also super close to being in the same boat with Russell and got a bit lucky.
I think Dallas will regret not trading for Hamhuis instead, but that's just me. |

Agree on most parts up until the draft part. Why would we get anything at all for Hammer at the draft just a bit before end of contract with no PO hockey to be played?
and yes...we have seen JB walk away from deals before just out of principal and fans roasted him on it. Bieksa to sharks is an example. He took slightly less from another team (ducks) just not to deal w Wilson anymore. Its a statement. Good on him.
When it comes to fan reaction I dont think this has much to do with hammer though. Fans want activity period. Gives people creative stuff to do. People would have been happy if hammer had have stayed and garbage moved out. Then they can get out their paper and pencil and ponder what can be done with that cap space / roster spot. - SMBDragon
It's happens. Hamhuis his rights have already been traded twice in his career. If Van is moving on they will be worth something |

you aren't understanding the concept. We are canucks fans discussing Canucks related topics. We are not making fun of Mcdonaugh for Gomez in the Habs threads. We are not making fun of Forsberg for Erat in the WSH forums. We are discussing current and valid topics for the canucks. We are not joining in the mayhem that is another team's thread just to piss off their fans in THEIR forum. Don't get things confused here though, I will go have a beer and talk hockey with a fan of any hockey franchise to discuss their team, but if they are going to join in conversion specifically to rile me up over something I have no control over, its going to piss me off. I'm legitimately still trying to make sense of how everything happened. So many conflicting reports.
Still think Benning should have traded Hamhuis for whatever offer he could get, no matter how low the offer. Didn't Hamhuis already say he fully intended on resigning with the Canucks anyway? Nobody is going to trade for the rights to a guy they know they can't sign... - BINGO!
Andrew Ladd won't sign with Chicago, they won't be able to fit him in. Why should a team help another team win a cup? You have to be prepared to pay the cost associated with buying something. I hope Dallas loses in the 1st round and regrets not having made a better deal |

we are open to opinion of other teams fans coming into the forum. That is fine. You however do not engage us in conversation for any other purpose but to try and rile us up over what our teams management has done. |

When it's done by trolls. - Marwood
Why is it that a team that has failed to win the cup in 45 years is above criticism? And if it's open to criticism, then why not the current management group?
Nucker has been pretty consistent with his message about Benning, that he isn't a fan.
Certainly there are moves he's made (or not made) that have just about every fan scratching their heads?
People vilify WD just about every day on here, are they trolls as well? |

you acknowledged that it was a different situation so you understand where i would say that Benning is not Tallon.
i'm sure that this may shock you but benning has been criticized ad nauseam on his trades. i'm sure there was pressure on him to hold his ground against the growing perception that he will pay (or take) anything to get a deal done.
so would i rather take whatever or keep the asset?
hmmm, in his situation, i would have probably behaved the same way (i'm a guy who will say fcuk you rather than get taken advantage of in business).
however, i don't think i'd put myself in that situation. i blame benning and am upset but realize that it is more frustration looking for a villain on my part. |

Agreed.
Hammer is by far the better Dman hands down....but hammer wanted to resign with canucks which decreases value. Who'd wish to go back to calgary when you can live in dallas with the weather and greatly different income taxes? More likely you could sign russell. And for the price you pay you want to resign these guys. So russell then becomes a more attractive option based on that. |

I think you need to slowly and carefully read my posts. It is a basic overview on the difference between constructive conversation on relative and current topics regarding the fans of their NHL franchise and what it is to be a troll. |
