No freaking way. Give them the obligatory 10% raise and let them show us they deserve more. Look at Chiarelli today, he re-upped Brandon Davidson for 2 years at $750k per year and he's in the NHL this year on a crappy team but he's a 3rd pairing guy at best. Pedan should get the 10%, Vey just drop and let Zalewski try to be either the 4th line centre or be the depth guy on Utica to bring up in case of first injury.

With the CDN $ the way it is get used to a the salary cap being stagnant for a couple of years so cap management means more than ever. Every extra $100 or $200k to this player and is an asset ie at the trade deadline.

Benning would pick another winger.... if the best d man in the 2016 class if available, it would be dumb of us not to select them, we have plenty of young forwards and not enough space as it is, and obviously cant clear roster spots nor make a trade. I would say any pick is better nothing, but I get not wanting to look like you are always being rolled. Maybe a hard ass negotiation approach, if that's what it was, could pay off in future negotiations. If it was just FA meddling, then frack.
