Innn......West-ern New York, born and raised
On the ice rink is where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out maxin, relaxin all cool
And playin' junior hockey instead of goin' to school
Got paired with Chris Neil and that was no good
Started makin' me play not-so-good
I got stuck on one little 4th line and my GM called me in
He said "you're movin' to the Isles, down in Brook-lyn"
I whistled for a cab and when it came near
The license plate said NYC Livery and I saw Abu in the mirror
If anything, I could say that this cab ain't rare
But I thought "nah, forget it" YO HOMIE TO THE BARCLAYS CENT-AIRE
I pulled up to the rink, played with nine-one and one-eight
And I yelled to the cabbie "yo homes, smell ya later"
I looked my kingdom, I was finally on the top line
Gonna sit on my throne, as the Fresh Prince of Bed-Stuy - eichiefs9

The premise is always that they are one or two good signings away from being a top contender but this is not entirely true.
Nelson and Greiss were the two signings this year and Lee was signed as a developing player they were putting their money on. Factor past UFA/trades big money signings for JB, Leddy, Halak, Grabo and Kulemin plus Clutterbuck as another outsider brought in for serious money. As some insiders said, the Isles had no veteran bargains other GM's could acquire because most needed cap relief and GM's all covet the Isles farm which are ours to develop.
Prince has better numbers than a Kennedy or Collberg so they did some improvement over last two deadlines, however whether he is a legit scorer or a Conacher remains to be seen. At the same time they are also making a serious push for the AHL playoffs which can also have a big positive effect for the organization. |

Hamonic wasn't going to carolina, boston, columbus, toronto, montreal and edmonton doesn't have what we want, vancouver doesn't either. - Isles_since_6
It was pretty obvious he didn't clearly understand the Hamonic situation when he listed those teams |

Dan Petriw: Islesbuzz Podcast Ep. 40: Deadline Recap w/Kelly Hrudey - Dan Petriw
Dan,
I applaud your stance on the state of this team and agree pretty much with all that you write. And when reading your posts, I don't hear the nasal-blockage that occurs when reading Noel's posts. Sorry Noel...
Just wanted to point-out that you have officially "called-out" Garth in your main post, several times now and should remind you that whatever short-list of people he has vowed to ignore/stonewall/refuse to acknowledge that exists, no doubt has your name on it by now, in ALL CAPS. I am sure the message of your calls inviting him to comment or join a podcast never reach the "Inbox" on his desk, are handed to him by his blind/mute assistant or echo all the way back into the deep recess of the isolated cave from which he operates.
We may as well start referring to him as "They".... The mystical, undefinable, assumed all knowing, always incognito, "THEY." The ones who move within the shadows—who speak without words and influence the lives of so many, with the wave of a finger. I think you would have a better chance debating the Wind.
Keep up the efforts tho. Like Andy Dusfrene, maybe write two letters a week? They can't ignore you forever. |

General consensus amongst Isles fans: should have moved Okposo or are you happy he's still here? - MidnightMarauder
If "THEY" knew over the Summer he wouldn't be signing a new contract he should have been traded. Now he walks for nothing. |

Isles do not have many top prospects in the AHL for this playoff run. All the forward prospects are in Juniors. Garth has not done a good job in the offseasons and at the trade deadlines. No two ways around it. |

That will happen in the offseason where the return will be more in line with what they want then at the deadline. Didn't make sense to trade Hamonic at the deadline unless they were getting back what they thought was fair so its pretty clear that didn't happen because he is still here. Like I said who replaces him right now and all you gave me was Facking Seidenberg Stop it - Vukota
The fact that the top teams made moves to get better then they already were (Wash, Chi, LA, even the Rags made an attempt) and you are talking about the playoffs this year? I'm sorry but be a realist, as they stand now they aren't contending, fan attendance is in the gutter and your best player has 2 years left after this on a deal and has seen the organization do nothing to attract talent to play with him except for draft and stockpile picks. When he is not with them after this contract is up you wont be laughing. It show ignorance to laugh off the concept of calling around and kicking the tires, or making a move to show the player that has carried your franchise on his back and never said boo about doing it alone, is TRYING to improve.
Put bluntly... they aren't winning this year and unless they make a MAJOR move in the offseason (and I hope they do because it would be awesome to see them relevant again) you are starring down the barrel of the Isles without Tavares and that is no laughing matter.
Edit: I'll give you Leddy and Boychuck before you say it, but I'm speaking of forward help for Tavares. |

I think they want to resign him at the right price. They could just let him test the market and go from there. If he walks then he walks and they sign somebody to take his place. |

We call it like we see it. If the organization can't take two nerds giving an honest assessment of the team then that's on them. We have to be honest with you guys and that is what we try and do

They haven't won a playoff series since 1993 dude, that's the longest current drought in the league. If you cant see that you are in denial.
They have a ONCE in a generation player in Tavares.

Wang, Snow, and Cappy so do not tell it like it is. Hopefully the new owners are not this way. |
