Yeah if you don't watch him often enough I can see how it would be deceiving. It's more of a consistency issue and it's not a consistency in effort it's consistency in making smart plays. His hockey IQ looks really low sometimes when he tries to make plays faster than he can think. - RonPielep
I feel like in a sheltered offensive role he could be quite the x factor going forward. You're right though, IQ will probably keep him from being a regular 1st liner. |

He's a mess
One of the lowest hockey IQ 's I've ever seen
His head can't keep up with his feet.
Even his bread and butter shot, while hard, is inaccurate and he fails to get wood on it far too often
For an offensive player his numbers are atrocious
He ain't a bust just yet and still has the raw talent , but I Dunno
But yeah he was decent tonight - Ihateallofu
I'd ask for a Kane/Yak trade, but at least Kane forechecks - not sure if Yak does.
Otherwise they sound similar |

Terrible thing for Edmonton is his value is nothing more than a 2nd rd pick right now.
He doesn't bring d help. |

He's good enough to benefit from better players....but he'll never be a driver. |

I read an article recently talking about how hard it appears he's working, but it's just so much wasted efforts and bad decisions, it really doesn't matter |

This worst part is when the bickering ends both fanbases realize their teams still have a long way to go |

Its the idea that if he appears busy he must be doing something useful. Often times just staying in your area or on your man is the best play. |

I don't see him fitting moving forward. I also don't see him bringing a huge return in trade. Tough spot to be in with a former #1 overall. |

Not my team. Draft Mathews. Sign Stamkos, Lucic, Backes, and Yandle, trade Kadri and Bozak for a top pair D.....rebuild over. |

On pure nhl effectiveness, you'd regret making that deal
But even still we need to save the dollars and use them elsewhere, so I'd probably say no regardless
Plus, Kane's reputation scares me. Fully understand media sensationalism. And I have no idea what he's like in the room.
But it feels like in terms of the poor reputation, rumours, conjecture, facts etc where there's smoke, theres Fire?
But a way better nhl'er than yakupov |

Yeah I just don't think coaches are going to let him continue to play in the top 6 just because he has the raw skills if they have to watch him make blatantly terrible plays over and over again. I mean there has to be at least some form consistency to the accountability a coach holds his players to if he wants to gain the respect of the team. This is why imo we've seen Yak in the doghouse so much playing in a bottom 6 role. Until he can muster up some IQ, shake off the nerves, and play a little more controlled mentally I can't see him earning himself a permanent top 6 role under pretty much any responsible coach. |
