They already have more points in 60 games than they did in each of the past 2 seasons after 82 games.

That is a pretty good barometer to measure their improvement. You have to suck to get better.

Are they a playoff team right now... no.

Are they guaranteed to be contenders next year... no.

But I don't know a ton of teams that improved 20+ pts from last year already with 20 games in hand.

Here's to hoping they improve another 20+ points again next season.

Kris Baker said earlier today that he has no doubt that Fasching will end his season here in Buffalo and that he doesn't see him needing a season in the AHL.


Between Ennis returning, Fasching, Bailey, and Matthews/Laine/Puljujarvi in our top 6 next year... it's going to be a thing of beauty.

If we can't get Matthews/Laine/Puljujarvi then we take Chychrun or Jeoluvi as a top pairing LH D Man. Neither of them will likely be Buffalo bound immediately though.


Personally... I think that Stamkos is already declining. maybe he just needs a change of scenery but I think if we sign him to a 6-10 year 10-12M per year deal or something like that... we will regret it VERY quickly. Not saying I'd be mad if we did get him but he is not Mr. 60 goals a season any more for whatever reason. Love to have him... won't cry if we don't.

I will take a 40 goal scoring Stamkos all day. With him ROR Eichel teams will have to respect someone like they do Ovi...If anything it will help Reinhart and Eichel grow.
