We do need to address team toughness for sure.
- mauryballstein

A lot of us have been stating this for a some time. Start at the back end with some 6'5 real estate that has anger management issues.

Your top 4 has 16 goals and forty points . Unless Hutton and Larson get 110 PTs between them you already built a losing team, that also doesn't hit.

As McLean pointed out playoff teams need 150 points from their back end our current D has about 50. We are so far off the mark. This D core needs to be dismantled. Not bring back old guys.

And your solution is?
Based on UFA's who would you replace our top 4 with?
You keep saying the D needs a complete overhaul without any suggestions on how to go about replacing a teams entire defensive core.

Truthfully I don't know what to make of it. I see 518 attempts by Hamhuis and no goals. This team sucks at scoring . He maybe has less shots against when on the ice even though it doesn't say where the shots are taken from or by whom? I mean a Dan Hamhuis Slapshot is no where near a Shea Weber slapshot.

I see the numbers but I don't think it really tells me anything.

I wouldn't rely on UFAs . I would try to trade.

If I couldn't find a trade partner I still would not bring in Hamhuis who will make my team sit on the bubble again.

I would rather be patient and go the Fla route and draft two top 5 Dman like Ekblad Gudbrandson .

The numbers tell you the shot differential while the players are on the ice, in 5on5 situations.

Bartkowski is horrible, and he'll be 28 this summer.

For all the grief Hamhuis gets, him and Tanev are still our best defenders.

Adding an impact Dman or a someone young with tremendous upside is one thing, change for the sake of change won't make us better.

So, don't re-sign anyone and hope you draft an NHL ready D man. Got it.

I see it different .

Like I just said to Marwood I have no desire to finish in the 10-20 range in drafting.

I haven't complained once all year about the losing and I hope the Canucks finish the last 20 games to give us a top 5 pick.

I see boring hockey with Hamhuis and Tanev no matter what numbers are thrown out. Both don't score points and neither hit very hard or if at all , Both players don't excite me one bit.

We can have different opinions but I would rather lose next year with Pedan and see a big slap shot , hard hits , and fights, plus get a higher draft pick.

Wasn't suggesting that. Just wanted a solution to 'get rid of our entire D'.

I want to change my bank account, I want one with several million dollars in it.

Vantel, the Florida route took 20 years.

That means most of us won't be able to stay up late enough to watch hockey anymore when they're competitive again.

Don't be a smat ass.

Have you notice that the D you are hoping to bring back currently sits in 24 th place. You cant just wake up everymorning and say everything is ok with Canucks

For a young impact D you may have to make painful decisions.

I'd try fixing what's really wrong with it before I went after the solid guys.

Yeah, and our most valuable chip will be our 1st.

So would you trade it for Jones if we had a top 3 pick?

More painful than the currently worst D in the NHL. Changes have to be made. Painful decisions have to be made. We are not even mediocre we are plain and simple the worst D core in the league imo. Cut the umbilical cord already.
