I hope we don't fall to last overall. Then we'd expect the first overall pick, and when we don't get it we'd be really disappointed, again.
If we are 26th, at least we don't expect the first overall and if we get it, will be pure bliss. - Scooby_Doo

I actually think our D will be fine next year...addition by subtraction. We will lose our worst two D in weber and Bart which will help emensly.
Taney edler
Sbisa-Hamhuis
Pedan-larsen
Biega
I think that's an average defense - CanuckDon
Don, I like your positive outlook but that d-core won't strike fear in any forward in the league.

Bringing back a losing formula is also pointless. 3 playoff wins 5 years. Lowest scoring D. Softest D.
Sorry I will try anything else - VANTEL
So
Bart, Weber, Biega, Sbisa out
And
Hamonic, Peden, Tyk, Larson in
And you think that that is both weaker physically and offensively?
I beg to differ.
Hamonic is more physical and offensive then all those guys. Tyk and Peden and more physical.
Larson should be more offensive |

Are you asking VANTEL to fix a problem that the past 3 general managers of the canucks couldn't figure out?
I think your asking too much of VANTEL. - bloatedmosquito
I thought Vantel was a general manager |

I have no faith that we don't resign Bartkowski, I'm hoping I'm wrong but I expect he will be back. Also how do you not have Hutton in there?

Hutton Sbisa
Bartkowski Larsson

Maybe part of the issue with the defense not scoring, has to be our forwards not wanting to stand in front and take any punishment, screening the goalie.
Soft defense, soft forwards, poor production.
I didn't realize how small Baertschi was last night until I saw him next to Vey and was thinking Sven plays bigger.
(Sven has really taken a step this season ) |

That's an average D in my opinion. Bart is not coming back. He was part of the garbage 7 for a reason |

Sven has upped his 2-way play just fine.
His offense will get better.
I'm afraid our D will struggle with no quick fix.
Drafting n patience needed.
The forwards r more important n must score more n win more battles.
Possessin is the biggest key for winning n offsets the pressure on D. |

I am on board with this. #4 seems like a comfortable spot, seems likely you can move up and not so crushing if you get knocked down further. If you finish 2nd last and three other teams with the lottery knocking you out of the top 3 would also be brutal but also very Vancouver |

I listened to Sven's pregame comments and watched the first two periods, he has really impressed me with his growth. Watching him play, he is way more assertive and confident. It was like he was taking ownership of the Abbostford line last night, he wanted to make plays and looked good out there. I am expecting him to take a bigger step next season |

What do you think are reasonable expectations for him if he plays top 6 and PP time which I imagine he will continue to get. |

The young guys aren't the problem. When Sven leads your team in hits, that's the problem. I point the finger at the vets. Mentors my ass. |

I think if he can perform at 0.5 points per game, I would be happy with his progress (though I think he could hit 50 points over a full season). It is hard to predict how his season would go with WD's sometimes odd selection of lines. I think my biggest expectation is that he will eclipse 20 assists next season, he is very creative and had a snakebit Horvat for the first half of the season |
