I don't think it will be Bobby Ryan - SABRES 89
I just think to get either Stone or Hoffman or even Turris would take a 1st++ and I'm not sure I want to pay that. We could always do 2017 1st, 3 3rds and Bailey. |

I don't think Hoffman would cost as much. He's a goal scorer who has gone cold past month or so. They've got areas they need to address and an internal budget. If they were going to move someone to save $, it would probably be him. |

Isn't he a LHD ? - SABRES 89
Yep... Big guy too
He's had a rough season from reports, but he's also played well in a top4 role for them at times. I think he's only 24
He's not our answer to finding aristo a partner, but he could still be a solid defenseman for us
And if not,
All we gave up was one of the many 3rds we have the next couple years
I'd give him a shot anyways |

Is this something Murray's considering or just your thoughts?
Hoffman is an interesting one. He's a 1 dimensional scorer but he scores enough that he will get paid. I just don't think it will be the sens who pay him. - Sabresfan-365
I have no problem with one-dimensional scorers. You know that. If a guy can score 30ish goals I don't care if he plays little to no defense. |

For me it depends on the player, though if he's regularly bringing in 30 goals i can probably get over the whole not playing defence thing. |

Whoa, Idk about all that!
I know not every guy can be Datsyuk, but u have to at least put in some effort & be "ok" in your own end
I think teams that have players like that end up underperforming against the "real" contenders come playoff time
I'll take a "hossa" or "zetterberg" over a guy like kessel any day of the week

it has to do he's played 249 games and still is the same player he has been for almost 2 mill a year, money better spent on another player. - SABRES 89
I think you would admit ...........you're always gonna have guys like him on the team and every team in the league has them as well. They bring a great attitude and grit to the ice ....... but they're never gonna put up sexy numbers ......... never. |

Better have a good goalie if you intend to win with those guys. |

I hear ya...
But those aren't the kinda guys I'd trade for or try & sign
Scoring is obviously important
But I'm more focussed on building a solid "team" like LA & Chicago
A team of "scorers" like Dallas, is probably gonna exit the playoffs pretty quickly, unless they get some killer goaltending
I think that's been Pittsburgh's problem for a while now too
Fleury falling apart constantly, certainly didn't help either... But how much of his "failures" had a bit to do with the team in front of him as well?
They lost some key guys from those Cup teams,
And the collection of AllStars they had failed bc they really weren't all that much of a "team" IMO |

And yes I am one of the people that want dan fired I hate the coaching style he brings and I hate how we play scared to lose every game.. it's annoying especially when we're sitting worst in the league he still doesn't take chances we play this tight ass defense game and not attacking and its annoying

I wouldn't be surprised to see his "style" alter in time
These "kids" need to learn to be defensively responsible BEFORE he can just let them loose
Those Pittsburgh teams didn't play like that
Give the guy some time
Remember when Lindy's style was super "defensive" back with Hasek
Then super "offensive" with Briere & Drury
Then got back to being on the more "safe" side when we were depending on Roy, Vanek, etc....
You've gotta coach with what u have
And drilling defense into these kids isn't gonna hurt us in the long run
When they start to play like O'Reilly, they'll be allowed to "attack" more
This team has talent...
But they still have to learn the game
It's coming...
Soon...
Promise!!! |

My post from my earlier attempt to troll you, but you weren't here...
"Yeah, that was the point. It was good, I enjoyed it. It was maybe a little derivative, could've been maybe 15 minutes shorter, but overall it was a good movie. I still think "Blade" is my favorite Marvel movie." |

Bylsma has super complicated breakouts, and it takes a long time for the defensemen to adjust to the system. And not every guy does. Ben Lovejoy took shots at Bylsma's breakout system when he was traded to the Ducks. In the NFL they have an advantage, because they have so many different camps and OTAs it's a lot easier to install an offense and defense. They don't have that luxury in the NHL they have like 3 weeks from the start of training camp to the start of the season and they can only practice so much with CBA guaranteed off days. So it's going to take some time before he gets his system fully installed to where he wants it. You could say that maybe a system that takes an entire season to install isn't the best system, but then again this was always a transition season as viewed from the owner on down. Tim Murray might be "pissed off" at where they are in the standings, but he's right in saying this team is a lot better than last year just not showing in the standings yet. But he said way before the season that they weren't a cap team yet, and they weren't a playoff team yet, he just wanted to "get better everyday" obviously that's literally unrealistic, but his basic premise is that of incremental improvement over the course of the season, and granted we can't score for poop right now, but defensively we're a metric (frank)ton better than last year. |
