I don't like Botch but that column made some reasonable points... the one thing Linden and Benning could use is a veteran guy who has been in senior mgmt in the league for awhile and the rest of the league likes or respects.
They are gonna lose Hamhuis for nothing essentially, if they can't resign him to at least a year, same with Vrbata. |

My wife was at walmart a while ago and an American couple came up to her and asked how long it takes to get from Prince George to Prince Rupert. She says about 8 hours and the couple not skipping a beat says how long is that in American time. No $hit. - thundachunk

I had an American couple ask me when the Queen comes out of her castle? thinking the BC legislature building was Buckingham Palace.
I had a guy ask me where he could rent a car, while driving his car. He said he didn't want to put Canadian gas in his car because it would wreck his motor.

Nice blog Carol as usual. The fans are staying away because they are starting to see that management does not have a clue what they are doing. Hansen, Edler and Hamhuis should all have been moved. The Shinkaruk deal is worrisome. The seats are becoming emty and the team is conceived as a joke run by morons. Pretty sad! I have tickets for the 29th San Jose game but after spending a fortune to go to the Feb. 06 Calgary game and get rewarded with probably the most boring game I have ever seen I am probably going to mail my tickets to a friend on the mainland that will probably say thanks but no thanks. Why is this team so bad? To me it is management and it keeps getting worse. I hate losing and winning is what it will take to start filling those empty seats. - joegreif17
I guess everyone is entitled to their impression of events and what is occurring with the team but I don't think after a lucky yet unimpressive playoff appearance followed by this season anyone should condemn this management team. I don't care what it is labelled as this is a rebuild has been for 2 years. It's not a re tool, a soft rebuild, its a rebuild so the team is going to lose. That is a symptom of a rebuild. A lot of posters on here are calling for a tank but when we lose they say WD is awful and JB and TL are out of their minds. This is going to take a few years and it's going to come with some poopty results in games, but once they do the team will be reconstructed in a way that will allow a nice long stretch of being competitive. We have young exciting forwards on the team now for the first time in at least a decade and a couple more in Utica. That took some time, next will be the D and then build some depth in Goal. PATIENCE that is the key and it's the least fun way to build a winner but it's the way you do it to have a consistent winner |

75% of them down there still think it's 1950...which is why Trump will get in. |

If they havent been actively shopping Edler/Hansen, they really are foolish. Great article Carol! Thought the kids played well, I dont usually say this... but a lot of lucky goals from Islanders, Canucks could have easily won it if a couple bounces went a different way. That being said, Vey was unimpressive as usual, putting dorsett with Horvt... great way to get him going Wille -.-
I wanted Etem with the sedins, but he wasnt all that noticeable (least not more than any other player that plays with them). I liked the Granlund line, he seems to work hard. Virtanen deserves an extended stay with the Sedins, that puck never leaves his stick and he's way faster than I ever gave him credit for. Him or McCann imo.
First time I really watched Hamonic play, he's solid... but man does he whine a lot. - Crazybagoham
Actually he doesn't and by far one the worst games the isles have played this year and lucky to take the 2 points and run |

Linden maybe but wasn't Benning Chiarellis right hand guy for years? Is that not senior mngt?
Hammer will resign here cheap (unfortunately) and Vrbata at this point just needs to git gone. |

I'm still hoping Hamonic changes his mind and stays. Neither tanev, edler or hutton, imo, are enough to replace him. - Isles_since_6
Were you ate the game yesterday wearing an Islander wrestling mask? |

A new management group will typically be given longer than two years to deliver results. They came into a horrible situation with NTCs and a stale core. They have said repeatedly that they will improve through the draft. They need a couple more drafts before they can be judged in totality.
Thankfully, most fans are more patient than you |

If it was true that the Hawks offered Marko Dano and a first for Hamhuis, then JB screwed up big time. If he couldn't see that as time ran out that teams were going to offer him garbage deals, then he is not GM material. Big difference between being a capable scout and GM.

I think the issue from NY is that there are no direct flights, so the actual journey takes significantly longer with layovers. In any case, I hate the idea of moving him especially given his cap hit and term, along with how key a member of our blue line he's been. I think we'd lose a lot of grit, snarl and he moves the puck really well. He's known as a solid player in his own end but I don't think people really know how good he is at carrying the puck up ice.
we lose in whatever trade we make because someone like him with that contract just isn't available. - Isles_since_6
I can't see how we can offer more than Edmonton/Winnipeg can.
Would love to see him in Vancouver. |
