Seems like he's been out the majority of the season.... - dbot
3.3 of his salary was on LTIR for his sports hernia. |

How has Sutter not bee on LTIR? Thereby gaining cap space??
Baffling.
- dbot
From what I understand, that cap space is only accessible once you go over that cap. I think you can make a trade and the space then comes into effect.
I have no idea if that means signing a new contract or calling up a player allows that cap space to be used. |

it's odd that it would be a cap problem.
you guys seem to be using $1.2M of of the $3.3M LTIR from sutter...so, $2M available.
you do need an nhl roster spot.
if hutton or grandlund (waiver exempt?) get sent down, i would think it is an actual money issue from ownership vs. a cap issue. |

He has been out 9 games and 22 days since his jaw injury and LTIR doesn't kick in until 10 or 24 days so maybe they just need until tonight until it is accessible.

according to the daily tracker, it came into effect feb 10:

it'll be interesting to find out the reason. |

And would the same be for Edler, both went down on the same night, after all of the Tree talk in here I'm interested in seeing what his skill set is at this level. |

Thanks for the link, I haven't seen that tool before but isn't LTIR retroactive? So as of feb 10 is when the space will be calculated but I don't think it is actually accessible until 10 games or 24 days past the injury. |

i understand it as it is expected to to out for 10 games/24 days...so you can replace the player right away.
looks to me like you guys are actually using $1.2M of his LTIR right now. |

Maybe next Christmas we can do a cowbell duet, it went over so well this year with you, I can just see more is better. |

I've now set my sights on hoping that [Hansen] gets dealt at the draft.
We've got a grand-total of one player who gives it their all and consistently plays better than the opposition - and you want to trade him??? |

I have been thinking about the whole Vrbata thing, and I get how you want to be close to your wife when she's about to give birth. Believe me I gave up a chance at a great job when my wife was pregnant with our 2nd. But I buckled down and did a great job at the place I was at so that I stayed in demand in the future. He has pouted, talked about how his numbers reflect where he plays in the line-up, etc. I would just make him a healthy scratch for the rest of the season. Honestly of his 8 team list 3 were playoff teams ? That's worth scratching him right there. I like Benning and I see good things in his plan but he could be a bit more of a hard ass and I would respect him a bit more. |

Yes because its a team game and he alone wont change the fate of the team but can bring back assets that fill holes they need going forward |

Fine but I'm not wearing the 'Daisy Duke' cut offs again. My balls didn't drop for a week after the last time. |

Marwood last blog.
Who would I bring with all the cap space?
Well Edler is your top pair LHD at the moment
Hutton has surpassed Hamhuis in minutes played , points and top spot in Edlers absence.
We have Sbisa Pedan also under contract who are LHD.
I would fix the right side and which is currently Tanev Biega and Larsen.
I would look to upgrade Biega with Gryba same salary range . I would look to make a trade for second pairing RHD , someone with an offensive upside.
I could look at a possible offer sheet if there was an unprotected RHD offensive prospect. If I had to give up a first second and third in 2017 , I would be ok with that. For that we need our favourite player. Mr. Cap Space.
It is also possible we draft or have drafted a RHD. Some of those kids have decent numbers in jr and size.
I would not offer Radim Hamhuis a contract more than a year , seeing we already seen the headaches of moving him , and the want from other teams of our old players.
Understood that you would , I wouldnt , and I doubt Benning does seeing he has already said he wants to see what other options are available this summer. |

I'm not a fan of Radium and would not offer a contract, Hamhuis I'm up in the air, I'm not a fan of Edler or Tanev, and as you have pointed out in numerous other blogs, all 3 back is not a change for the better. So I'll have to be happy with who they keep and hopefully trade for.
I'm interested to see Pedan and this Tree fellow, but there's no guaranties either will be NHL proven, but give them a reasonable chance. |
