Games like that are going to happen....Saturday is now pretty big as they can't let it get away from them. Ghost had a couple gafs, but seriously the kid has played less then a full season of professional hockey, so to me ...I say live and learn kid.
The one thing that Hextall saw win in LA was skill with some size and toughness....I'm not advocating a goon, but some size with speed on your 3rd and 4th lines ...To me only Raffl fits that bill.

As Jsaq said earlier, every team has games like last nights. The problem wasn't last evenings game, rather it's being in the position where you basically need to win every night to stay in the race and you need to do it while missing key players and carrying too many borderline/depth players. - BiggE
Teams always have clunkers, no way to avoid them in an 82 game schedule. The thing is the Flyers know the stakes. Every point is paramount. Coming out in the first period and going through the motions and getting dominated all over the ice by the worst team in the sport is inexcusable. That first period set the tone for the game. No sugar coating last night. It's an utter embarrassment to be beat 4-0 at home by that team under any circumstance. |

They have created a situation where they can't have any let downs and it doesn't help with the Penguins win.
Medvedev was bad in my opinion. I would almost rather see Alt up as he is a better skater then Manning and can also play a two way game. Not as offensive as Medvedev. - J35Bacher
I have a feeling we will see the Manning/Medvedev shell game tomorrow for the 1000x. |

Patrick Maroon? - coffee junkie
I wouldn't mind a Kassian or Maroon next season over Vandevelde or White.
Even Matt Martin intrigues me because he kills penalties too. I do think they lack some size on the wings. |

Do you blame Hakstol?
If one of these players would just take the ball withy it you probably wouldn't see it. |

Manning stinks. He's a minor league defenseman. He shouldn't even be on the roster. |

If the price is right Martin with his physical play and size would be a good 4th line addition

Maroon, yes. Big body, had a couple good years in Anaheim. I think he'd be an upgrade over both of them.
Kassian, meh. He also had a couple nice years when he was in Vancouver but I just don't like him. Reminds me too much of Rinaldo.
That and #5 jersey would be available for Maroon. |

Came in expecting worse I have to admit.
I didnt get to watch the whole game (yay?) but it seemed more like nothing was going right for the Flyers.

@Slipperypickle
Totally agree that ALL Streit,Medvedev,Raffl and Gagner did have a VERY BAD night
but linking it to trade deadline doesnt make any sense
Also draft picks and prospect will not help you now.
AND if you cant execute at in 4 PP some even MAJOR you cannot blame the above mentioned players alone - goenzoy
I was just mentioning the fact that I was surprised Hexy didn't take the opportunity to get us some more picks at the deadline. Those four players are the guys I thought he'd be shopping. I wasn't blaming them for what was obviously a 'team' loss. This team is in need of some elite skill. Provorov and Konecny both have it. I was hoping Hextall would put some more picks on the board in June to draft some more. |

Really thought McDavid was going to kill us after watching first period, but I gotta say Couts and his line shut McDavid and his line down for the remainder of the game. Ghost has come to earth, and I hope he continues short memory to improve for Saturday. Overall this was one of the most frustrating games I've watched all season. I don't know why Schenn even went back on the ice after that fall because that was dangerous |

And what has Medvedev showed? He has some games but I would say he has had more games where I question what he is. |

He hasn't been great. But he's always in and out of the lineup. Hard to have any consistency when that happens. I think communication is an issue with Medvedev, but at this point that shouldn't be an excuse. I think Medvedev has a skillset to play in the NHL, Manning does not. |

Medvedev has shown he is not a 3M dollar Dman
Manning has shown he is a 650K Dman
Manning has been what he is.. A 7th Dman

Yeah, there's a reason Medvedev is still on the roster. I don't think any contender had any real interest in him at the deadline. He's just so soft defensively and easily taken off the puck. I'd very much like to see Alt get a look, especially since he's not waiver exempt next year. Also, once they are eliminated, I'd sit either Schultz or AMac, bring up Morin who's been playing with Alt, and go with:
Ghost-Gudas
Schultz or AMac-Streit
Morin-Alt
I can't see any way that giving Morin 5-10 NHL games could hurt him in the slightest.

Hard to argue with this, however, as bad as they were in the 1st, they were only down1-0 after one. They dominated the 2nd, hit two posts, and caught some poopty luck. It happens, it sucks, but it happens. The problem wasn't last night, rather it was all the obtainable points they pissed away earlier in the season. |

The way the entire blue line played last night, you could make a case for sitting all of them. |

So then be better and the shuffling stops. The reason Manning gets back into the lineup is Medvedev hasn't done anything to say he shouldn't sit.

it's hard to build on anything if you are scratched every other game. especially when you haven't played the NHL style of hockey before |
