Aside from that one play, McDavid was really, really good last night. He doesn't stand out like Bure did or like Ovechkin does, but damn he is a good skater and so good with the puck. - jmatchett383
I think he stands out when he isnt playing against Coots |

The forwards were a mess defensively. There were a bunch of times where they had to haul ass through the neutral zone to even up odd-man rushes. And yeah, the defenders did get caught flat-footed. They were able to outplay Edmonton only because they're more skilled, not because of effort and decision making. - jmatchett383
They just made life easy for the Oilers forwards. Force that team to make quick decisions and multiple passes in the neutral zone and they'll fall apart. Allowing their skilled forwards to skate directly at our defense unimpeded and it's not going to end well.
The first period was pretty terrible. They were lifeless. |

What happened to Schenn? It looked like Ghost got tangled up with a player (Maroon? Hall?) and Simmonds came over and leveled the player. Next thing I know, Schenn's on the ground in pain. I know Bill said he tripped, but did he get pushed or just tripped? - jmatchett383
giroux took a stick to the face it looked like...went down...schenn was just shoving with Pardy? and kinda got high/lowed by him and Giroux (who was laying on the ice). Schenns helmet had come off already so when Schenn went down backwards with Pardy on top of him

I see flashes here and there, but mostly he seems to just disappear at times. However, that being said, I'd take him over the other 3 guys you mentioned. - BiggE
His stats are just so much better than the others. He plays a more Russian/modern form of hockey, which sometimes leads to ugly turnovers. For the most part, though, he helps the Flyers keep possession as they move through the neutral zone. For all of his gaffs, the team is decidedly better when he's on the ice. Going from him to Manning is eye opening. |

Okay, yeah, I thought I saw Giroux being the one laying on the ice, but after the players all separated, it was Schenn. Thought I was losing my mind confusing 28 for 10. |

The Maroon goal zapped all of their momentum. If the 3rd, they had a chance when they got the 4-minute PP, but that SHG just put them into zombie mode. - jmatchett383
They really do miss Voracek on the other side of the PP. I thought Streit might be fine because he'd add another shooting element, but it's clear they need Jakes playmaking. Teams have been overloading G's side for a while, but now it's much worse without Jake there.
Might be better to just load up and use Couturier over there. The second unit would be pretty weak, but it's probably more important they maximize the top unit. Also, replacing Amac with Streit and Medvedev may actually improve the 2nd unit even if Couturier isn't there. |

No helmet taking that kind of landing on the ice.... OUCH! Concussion written all over it. |

Flyers had 14PP mins, Oilers 2PP mins, and they lost 4-0 at home. Can't make it up. |

2016 calendar year to date: Neuvirth 14 GP, 8-4-2 record, .909 SV%, Mason 14 GP, 6-5-2 record, .922 SV%. - bmeltzer

I thought it was on Hall for giving Ghost a shot as Ghost was skating to the bench. There's apparently a Sons of Penn article that shows it, but I can't get the page to load.

Agreed. If we'd started Neuvirth last night, he probably doesn't let in those 4 horrible goals that Mason did. |

Agreed, a shove calls for a double-handed shot the side head of a player who's looking away.
Next you'll be telling me that Wayne Simmonds didn't sucker punch a completely innocent Ryan McDonagh.
I still wanna know how 2 separate minors and one double-minor evened up to 5-on-5. |

Can someone explain this to me:
The Oilers get minors to 2 separate players. They should play 2 men short for 2 minutes. Simmonds takes a (bullpoop) double minor for roughing. The Flyers should play 1 man short for 4 minutes. So, what should have happened (if I understand it correctly) is that the Flyers would have a 4-on-3 PP for 2 minutes, followed by a 5-on-4 for the Oilers for 2 minutes. However, they said the penalties evened up and they played 5-on-5 with the 2 Oilers exiting at a stoppage while Simmonds had to remain in the box longer. - jmatchett383
Weird. I would think it should be as you think. |

I've been greatly disappointed in Medvedev.
3 posts last night. pop one of those in and maybe we have a different game. the reality is this team really is going to struggle long run dealing with the loss of MDZ and Voracek. they aren't a deep enough team yet |

Lundqvist wouldn't stand for that kind of stuff. Just look at what he does when one of his own players crashes into him:

Wow. I never really had a reason to hate the Oilers, but I hate them now and I hope they stay poopty with Laine too.
Oh wait. They will. Because that the name of the game for that pathetic organization. |

Flyers defensemen
Player A: Team LEADING +20 Scoring chance differential
Player B: Team WORST -38 Scoring chance differential
Any guesses? |

No. Just stating that Nuevirth gets a relatively free pass while Mason gets killed for every goal he lets in.
Flyers lose 2-1 with Mason: "Well, if Mason had made those 2 stops..."
Flyers lose 4-0 with Neuvirth: "Man, the forwards and defense sure did stink last night..." |
